We trialled the Monday training thing a few years back and for someone over the age of 25 like I was, it was horrible, I could barely get out of a walk from the Saturday's soreness. The impact of the extra 24 hours between Monday night-Tuesday night surprised me. Tried Wed/Thurs for a bit too but couldn't back up to train two nights in a row, struggled to get around on the the Thursday.

Still think Tues main session with Thurs short, sharp session is the right balance, people are also much more likely to hang around for a meal then a few drinks a bit later on with only one day of work to get through (as mentioned earlier). Doesn't mean the discussion isn't valid however.

I found as I got older and the colder months set in I seemed to require treatment on most Tuesday nights, it coincided with Nan, Pop, the MIL, mum, the missus and all her rellies seemed to have their birthdays land on a Tuesday and our presence was always required as we were going out for dinner, then on other nights work seemed to be in high demand and they'd throw overtime at me on Tuesday's, it was also the day most likely that the 24 hour flu set in.

Well a great game at Greenacres yesterday with the 2 top sides battled it out. You would have thought the league would have assigned some good umpires for the game in which the 2 assigned were disgusting would not have been able to run away from there own shadow. A big thank to the CU boy for coming in for a drink and a feed.

Was a great game, spoilt by 1 umpire in particular who made some of the worst decisions I have seen in a long long time. Which I hate to say were all one way. Including something Ive never seen before.. free kick midfield, ball kicked downfield deep into forward line, he watched to see if Greenacres were gonna win the contested ball and pay advantage, they lost it a good 6-8 seconds later and he called it back. The footage of that would be highly embarrassing for him.
Puts the other umpire in a hard position when the other one is calling contentious decisions deep in his zone, it makes for a pressure on him to balance the game out.
In the end that just means a badly umpired game. Which is bad for everyone as it spoilt a great contested game of footy by the 2 best sides in the division.
Units led most of the way and then had to fight back from a couple goals down to go back in front very late. I hope to see these 2 sides in the GF, some excellent experienced players on both sides.

Was a hard contest that was not officiated well like you said. I think whoever can get their best side on the park when it counts in September will start favourite as there is not much between the 2 sides. I think Paul Merritt has to be the best player in this grade, how old is he Chief?

My daughter played yesterday at Mitchell Park.
What a fantastic viewing ground for footy - very picturesque.
Secondly - not one speck of mud! Amazing to see how good a condition it is in.
Lastly - hows the size of the construction at Southern end - thats a proper re development.
Well done to all at MPFC - bloody impressive.

Always enjoyed going to Mitchell Park other than the change rooms. New development is going to be great. No disrespect intended but the oval would be in great condition as they have little to no juniors meaning barely any traffic on the ground.

He'd be close to 40 if not over, very very smart footballer. Position's himself perfectly at every contest and when given no respect he just takes the mickey. Teammates always look for him and use him too, understandably too.

I'd argue that the best player in this division is Spike (Adrian Mark) though. Bloke has played the last 10 years on the best CHF in every team in the Adelaide Plains league and returns home to the Units and has become the number 1 ruck and is basically like another onballer when the ball is on the ground. Clunks everything and does a lot of work around the ground, should win the B&F easily and is my tip for the medal.

Got to feel for the Units.

Yeah I know all teams put in hours of commitments etc, but they have been down the bottom for so long, one of the worst a grade sides in the entire SAAFL for a period.

They get back to the top and have a real premiership crack for the season to be potentially de-railed.

If we are back playing for in two weekends time it would be a bloody miracle. Personally the first step will be back to level 4 restrictions which dont allow for community sport.

Dont necessarily agree, the whole idea of short hard lockdowns are to get on top if it early and hopefully be able to return to pre-lockdown conditions much more quickly. Will all be dependent on how many cases and sites they uncover over the coming days but going hard and fast usually means we get back to business quicker.

I get what you are trying to say but there are heaps of clubs that you’d feel for, not just the top side in this div. Need to take a deep breath here and let the next few days play out first before the hard luck stories start to get rolled out imo.

Don't need to tell me how good a player Spike is, was gutted we couldn't get him back in 2018. Just great to see him back at his junior club now. In the games i have watched i agree with you he has dominated, maybe just the Houghton game that he was beaten at the centre bounces but beat his opponent around the ground. Hopefully the couple of games he missed because of work and you other blokes don't take too many votes of him that he could win his fourth association medal (I Think) including juniors.

There’s a very strong chance we come out of lockdown and straight into level 4 restrictions which includes no contact sport. I would think next weekend we still won’t be playing unfortunately
