Are you saying it's rare for Bedge to have a bad idea, or rate for him to concede? ;)

Settle lads, i'm too pigheaded to concede my idea is dumb

I'm conceding it wont happen lol.. I still like the idea :P

If people think getting a double chance > only needing one win to reach GF then I think you're high.

Also, cant believe i've copped so much over this - wasnt even my idea haha, was put in the update sent out from the league yesterday!

2 week final series. Straight KO. Lock it in.

TBC in coming week i'd say.

My mail is there is pressure being placed from several areas - including local councils, SA Health etc. - and winter sport seasons in general still don't know what further requirements will be put on to see out their seasons.

Council in particular wants winter season wrapped up so they can give grounds a break before summer season.

Agree, will be top 3. Can only have one final per week in each grade to comply with SA Health. Sacrifice is 4th and 5th miss out on finals.

The Adelaide Footy League will wait for further advice before revealing its plans for the remainder of the season.

However, chief executive John Kernahan said earlier this week the league would prioritise completing the home and away season to ensure integrity for relegation, which was frozen last year.

Changes to the finals structure are also expected and the league has not ruled out cutting down the traditional top five.

It is unlikely grand finals for the competition’s seven men’s divisions will be played later than the weekend of September 18 due to the AFL grand final (scheduled for September 25) and the October long weekend.

There is an added complication to the division one fixture as it was in the middle of a split round when the lockdown came into force.

The remaining two games – St Peter’s OC v Brighton and Prince Alfred OC v Goodwood – would most likely be added onto the end of the campaign.

I hope it would be top 5 - would be guttered if it's a top 4 finals series

Week 1 - Semi Finals
(a). 2 v 3 (SF2)
(b). 4 v 5 (SF1)

Week 2 - Preliminary Finals
(c). 1 v Loser SF2 (a)
(d). Winner SF1 (b) vs Winner SF2 (a)

Week 3 - Grand Final
Winner (c) vs (d)

Team that finishes top gets no double chance yet the teams 2 and 3 do. Sounds fair ;)

They get the win in the abandoned double chance Qualifying Final game and go straight to the the Prelim.

Did I read games can go ahead but no spectators this week?

Can't say that seems an overly realistic plan.

The wording i heard in the press conference was along the lines of spectators being discouraged and only those playing or providing support (coaches, trainers, umpires etc) should attend.

Sounds alot like the return to footy we had in 2020, almost impossible to stop people attending to watch the game with most grounds not having fencing.

Clubs will also feel the drop in income on bar revenue, canteen and bbq if supporters cant attend.

For the life of me I don't understand why they don't adjust to reality. An obvious example would be permitting attendance (while not encouraging it) but mandating masks when not drinking.

I suspect you'd get a reasonable level of compliance and it would achieve more.

While I can see the above is a bit tongue in cheek, there is a degree of truth to the fact that because it's not something that interests them, they are weigh up the benefits of it (community sport) lower than the perceived risk.

What are the new restrictions on spectators?

RE: SANFL Community Football I URGENT COVID-19 Restrictions Update

Dear all,

Further gradual easing of restrictions were announced by the State Government this morning.

The following impacting sporting clubs and licenced venues will take effect from 12:01am Thursday 5 August:
• Sporting competitions can re-commence
• Spectators limited to parents/caregivers for the purpose of supervision (should be limited to one parent where possible)
o Only those who are required for the running of the activity can be in attendance (ie: players, officials, coaches, volunteers, COVID Marshals etc)
o Those in attendance are subject to all other COVID requirements such as seated consumption, QR code check-in etc
• Density of 1 person per 2sqm (changerooms, match day areas such as coaches boxes, licenced venue etc)
• Density of 1 person per 4sqm for gyms/indoor fitness facilities
• Existing mask wearing conditions continue (licenced venues, shared public spaces, workplaces etc)
• Singing restrictions remain in place (no club songs in changerooms)
• Seated consumption remains (indoors & outdoors)
• Cross border community members can cross the border to participate in sport competition and training (provided within the 70km border bubble with Victoria)
We appreciate that the lack of spectators significantly impacts our community clubs. We will be working closely with SA Health to advocate for the return to spectators as soon as possible (hopefully for the next round of matches).

So clubs are aware, community sport in Victoria resumed under similar spectator restriction conditions this past weekend following the end of their lockdown.

Again we remind you of our Key Principles to Return to Play as follows:
• Density requirements, and/or maintaining 1.5m apart where possible must be observed where possible
• QR Code and Manual Check In Systems in place
• Presence of COVID Marshals
• “Get In/Get Out” should be observed where possible
• Thorough cleaning and sanitisation must occur before and after each training/match day including spot cleaning of changerooms in between user groups, and cleaning of equipment
• Hygiene and testing protocols previously implemented will still apply (including no shared drink bottles, lolly bowls etc)
SANFL will monitor the restrictions and release of the directions, and provide any further updates as required.

The SANFL Return to Play protocols and website will be updated once the directions have been released (most likely Wednesday).

Thanks again for your ongoing support and compliance in COVIDSafe practices.

Regards,

Lisa Faraci
