How the hell would you know that?

It's where the Presidents Group meet up for the 2nd half of games, the equipment gets pushed out of the way while we drink and eat. ;)

So you don't jump of the cross trainer to watch the 2nd half? I'm sure a pint would fit nicely in the Pringles holder.

Yeah, the mind's ticking over with ways to get around it. Not sure they could stop people going to the cricket club either.
Stupid part about it, 100 of us could sit in the RSL and watch it together with no maskss as we have a drinkbut we can't go outside and stand 50 metres apart with masks on. :?
I see the logic with most rules implemented but this one is difficult to work out.

Conspiracy theories aside, can someone respond to this part of the post.

I'm pro vaccines in general, but I'm not sold on getting the covid vaccine yet.

From what I can tell, given you can still catch and pass on covid, there doesn't appear to be a benefit to society overall of getting the vaccine.
(other than perhaps the argument that I am less likely to take up a hospital bed as I'm less likely to get seriously ill).

After 1 Pfizer you're something like 60% less likely to be hospitalised and after 2 Pfizer something like 92% less likely.

Can they fix dumb too?

They are personal benefits, not community. I was looking for social benefits.

A lot of people don't care about their personal health. Look at smoking, drinking, overeating, under exercising, etc.
If the only substantial benefit of the vaccine was personal, then I'm a big believer that everyone should have their own choice. IE: It doesn't impact you if I choose to get sick.

Thankfully Tipper explained a clear benefit from a society perspective.

Harsh, was a reasonable question.

Does this mean his side can continue to play while he isolates, or do they have to undergo COVID tests / isolation etc too?

i should also add, the less people getting it, and the less time they are sick with it, the lower chances of another dangerous mutation getting into circulation.

the delta strain (and the others) all came about in infected people. the more people infected, the more chance there is of more mutations, that could either be milder, or worse than the current strains. they could also be more or less affected by the existing vaccines, more or less deadly etc.

My jab wasn't at you, by the way.

As Tipper explains, less people getting ill means the virus doesn't gain strength, it in fact dies a death and weakens along the way.

The more people getting less ill, less hospitalisations, means the economy can stay alive, lockdowns will be less likely.

2nd Pfizer jab this morning, so far so good. I was a bit ambivalent about getting the jab, but figured with the amount of chemicals I’ve had pumped through my body over the last decade what’s another one. Would prefer I was our household guinea pig anyway rather than the missus and kids.

Don't worry, as someone in the under 40 bracket, I'm not eligible for the jab at the moment anyway!

I'm surprised the government isn't publicising this more.

All we are hearing is how it minimises how sick you get, but a lot of people aren't worried about getting sick. It's that aussie thing of thinking we are all 7 foot tall and bullet proof.

When all the health officers are standing there saying you'll still catch it, and still pass it on, people go why bother.

If they stood there and said some of you will catch it, but that's a minority, and that's the message they are driving home, I recon they'd get much better take up.

I get that it's not easy when there is a series of mis-information campaigns from all the various interest groups, but geez their messaging needs to get better.

You dont think there is economic stress caused by covid? i would think thats the major cause at play here, we have been lucky here in SA with the lockdowns not going on for months but there is tstill small businesses going to the wall with the short lockdowns. Vic and NSW are not so lucky and now they have hit construction thats an enormous amount of sub contractors, contractors, self employed and casual workforce that is getting no income. How far do you think $600 goes in Sydney, hardly covers rent i would imagine.

As I said, I dont deny that this is time of great stress and hardship for the country as a whole and that this may be the "straw that breaks the camels back" for some people with underlying mental health issues.

However attributing those deaths to this virus is the same as contributing Covid to the deaths of all those with other comorbidities as you claimed needs to be cautioned agaisnt.

Which way do you want it?

So now youre admitting the numbers are fudged for the covid deaths?
