Whilst I don't necessarily agree with the advise against spectators, think we need to realise this was a blanket directive across the state - not purely targeted at the AdFL/

Juniors, country footy, SANFL footy etc.

Sure it's not as enforceable in the AdFL, who cares, will it be seriously that heavily policed?

If I coach a team at 9.20am I am allowed to be there. If I play at 2.45 am I supposed to go home, then come back for my game as I could be a spectator for the 3 games in between?
Cannot see any sense at all in having no crowd.
If its a tracing thing, just send an email to all clubs asking them to get their covid marshal to walk around the grounds with the check in code all day.
Volunteers are normally pretty good at trying their very best to comply with whatever the rules are as they are doing it for the right reasons and generally they don't want to be the ones to stuff it up.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Instead of a campaign where they are basically saying we don’t trust you, why not have a campaign promoting checkins at local footy. We’ve done the right thing so far, trust we will in the future.

As said above. More people check in at the footy then at their pub, Coles or bunnings

That's my point though, why enforce rules if you cant police them.

Make mask wearing mandatory, increase the importance of covid check in and let the people get out and be social.

Shit we haven't a community transition in about 7.5 years. :D

Because it can be enforced at grounds with fences, or at junior matches where parents bring their child?

The irony pointed out by S Demon a few pages up is obvious.

Most Football Clubs aren't the licensee of their licensed premises and can't direct the licensee when to open and when to close.

Of course it's completely covid safe for people to be within the licensed premises adjacent to the oval staring at the TV. If of course they were to turn around and accidentally observe a football match happening behind them of course the covid would spread. It is also obviously more dangerous for people to watch a match outside spread around the boundary line, then piled into a club room at 1 in 2 square meters.

I suspect when they announce that the showdown can have a crowd there will be a pretty significant backlash that will cause them to buckle on this.

Still, need to maintain the pressure (i.e whinge)

Yeah completely agree - the backlash for letting people into the showdown will surely put pressure on them to change this ridiculous rule. Most people have abided by all the other rules that have been made but this one is just ridiculous - hope they cave in & change there mind on the crowd rule

If you don't have trust in clubs / marshals to enforce this why request they have these people in place at all.

Don't know about others either but I can guarantee more people have been covid checking in at country games where there is gated system compared to how many people check in to the local woolies.

Well they have never trusted the RPA accreditation in licenced premises so they have form

Sensible decision, let's the situation stabilise before finals where it can be re-thought

The latest piece of the puzzle will be the makeup of the finals

If we play a traditional finals that would make it a grand final clash with the AFL

I believe councils want the gf played on the 18th of September at the latest

Top 4 over 3 weeks seems the best outcome if we can keep things on track covid wise

How many clubs you think would have been willing to play a mid-week catch up game, and start finals on the 28th August?

I'm guessing those in the finals mix would be keen, those in relegation space not so much.

How many grounds have quality lights?
