Jesus you dribble some shit on here.
We all do….it’s what a forum is for.
Can you answer though what you think the intent of the second innings was??

whufc wrote:Absolutely drop catches hurt but drop catches happen in most innings. I don’t imagine slip fielding in the sub continent is easy when your so close to the batters, variable bounce, long periods where there isn’t a single chance. The interesting one is the Khawaja one still wearing the helmet yet fielding over a pitch length back from the batters. Still should have caught it but that would have felt weird af.

I would just like to see us be a bit more attacking in the way we search for wins.
Can you explain the second innings (I get why we batted but don’t understand the intent). If it was to get a 500 run lead we could have got that by the end of day 3. I get why we didn’t bowl on day 3 but if continuing to bat at a moderate pace was to give the bowlers the extra 30 minute test at the start of a day your kidding me. If it was to mentally disintegrate the Pakis by sending them back out there it didn’t come close to working.

You can’t field like a u10’s side and expect to win a test.
This should have been over before tea tonight and I’d suggest that Smith doesn’t sleep well for a few nights
Like leaving the ball as a batsmen there is only good ones and bad ones…..we didn’t leave ourselves enough time because we didn’t bowl them out. We had opportunities to maximise the time further and we didn’t take it and ultimately it cost us along with other factors such as fielding.
Sadly Borders mental disintegration tactics have backfired big time.

What do you mean by this?
They had nearly two days to bowl them out after rolling them for 148 in the first innings. How much longer do you want?

I said at the time that we should've enforced the follow on, we had only bowled 53 overs and our two strike bowlers were quite well rested by the completion on the Pakistani innings.
We need to get the demons of Kolkota 2001 out of our heads and enforce follow ons when they are best suited.

Others above have answered this. Give the bowlers a brief break, get Pakistan out in the field, get the roller on, all would've played a role. Whether this was the right call, as Jim said we easily had enough time to bowl them out but didn't, dropped catches costing us à la at the SCG v England.
The suggestion that we showed Pakistan disrespect is non-sensical, and borders on the obsessive.
The fact is, this series was always going to be a bat-athon. The last two Pakistan tours (yes I know they were in the UAE) were run-fests on roads, with results only possible because Australia's batting isn't as good as it is now. The PCB were always going to want five day matches in this series. Couple that with the concrete they served up in Rawalpindi, the second test had draw written all over it. The blokes in the ISS could've seen that this one was heading for a draw. The match figures were 11/653 and 17/591.
In the end, we had our chances to win, but it was simply about executing in the field. Other than that, it's difficult to fault our performance at all IMO.
Playing on roads where all 8 specialist bowlers found it hard to trouble batsmen, against a Pakistan side that is clearly superior to the one that toured Australia, in our first series in Pakistan in 22 years (most of our guys would never have previously set foot in the place), it is going to be very tough to win.
If I were a fool, I would suggest that your failure to give Pakistan credit for the class fourth innings batting performance amounted to disrespect.

Can't blame the pitch yesterday, it was a typical 5th day Asian track, plenty of variable bounce, and recent test matches there confirm its a results pitch.
We bowled shit (Swepson ) and Paki's batted brilliantly, I dont care what you bat on, batting for 2 days after being bowled out in 53 overs is sensational.

Fair suck of the sauce bottle, Head and Lubuswanker dropped Babar in consecutive deliveries where Swepson had him beat.
