Sleep Pills

Post by JK »

Anyone recommend something that worked for them? Preferably something that doesn’t make you feel lethargic the next day.

Have used Temazepam for the purpose of achieving sleep on international flights. Mostly with success, but a couple of times I've had to have a second dose after a couple of hours. Don't remember being overly drowsy afterwards. I have found that they don't work if you have them within a few days of your last dose ... so you might get some kip on a plane, but you'll still need to face jet lag! You'll need a script from your quack to get them.

Coming from someone with chronic insomnia, I have had no success with prescription sleeping pills.
What suits me best is over the counter sleepaid or restavit tablets but break them into quarters. The full or even half a tablet leaves me feeling hungover the next day.

I know its easier said than done but have you tried increased physical activity.

I know for me my training in the gym and my sleeping patterns are very closely connected even when I'm feeling stressed, anxious etc.

I took a couple of those sleep aid tablets a few months ago as I was struggling to sleep. They wrecked me for a few days and felt like shit. Will never take them again.
So you've seen everything have you?

When I was going through a marriage breakdown and the old man on his way out I was going up to 4 days staring at my ceiling all night.

I didn't want to take drugs for it so I opted for some natural tablets instead, they were ok some of the time but then someone suggested that I get latex pillows.

As weird as it sounds it made a world of difference, just a thought.

Thanks mate, I was going to mention I’d tried them but they stopped working fairly quickly (I just didn’t know how to spell them lol)

Prior to getting crook this worked really well for me. With the fatigue that comes with a chronic illness however, my exercise capacity is limited (I do still exercise just not like I could 10 years ago). I’d prefer to avoid medication if possible, so have used *ahem* herbal remedy for years, but sick of waking up tired the next morning.

Week before last I managed 12 hours sleep for the entire week, so kinda at the point I’ll try anything now.
