Yes, but they don’t bat stupidly, they just make the most of the test match styled field setting, we only have Warner, Smith and Head that take the aerial route on a bad ball, if the field is up and it’s a shit ball, even a mis-hit will clear the infield

Bowled crap initially which then panicked Cummings into defensive fields….now England taken the piss on a wicket doing stuff all.

Rubbish. There are stuff all deliveries beating the edge and batsmen are walking up and down the pitch carelessly like a pissed tourist in Bali. There are no signs that if we even pitched it up we’d be better off. They are limiting the damage in the hope of the softer ball making it harder to score and also hopeful of it reversing. Time will tell if that’s the right move. This pitch is a dog.

You’ve gotta appreciate a Root that lasts a few hours, especially when there plenty of pressure from Cummins along the journey

The point I’m trying to make is keep the fields up to build pressure and keep fielders in catching positions, mistakes will be made.

I remember an article on Ian Healy in one of the first editions of Inside Sport in the 90s

Biggest difference between test and one day cricket play a streaky shot in test cricket you get out or hit a four, you’re still on strike facing the bowler.

False stroke in in Test cricket you get a single and up the other end.

I only used to buy Inside Spirt for the articles…

Just felt we went too defensive too early

If Maria’s Erasmus can’t give that out then he shouldn’t be umpiring another Ashes Test. FMD what the hell was that!

All the talk of the pitch and obviously its a road but just wait for overhead conditions. Overhead conditions can play just as big of a part in england, but of cloud cover can change it all.

A Ian Healy article from a magazine from the 90s lol, because that has relevance to a Test match in 2023.

If Australia kept the field up you blokes would whinge that their leaking too many boundaries and the run rate is too high.
