They still pour a good beer at the Sussex.

13 CABS.

Called to get a taxi to a pub. Spoke to a machine, which tried to interpret my voice to get the address. 30 seconds after the booking, got a call from a driver to confirm the destination, telling us he'd see us soon.

40 minutes later, no taxi. I called back. The machine recognised my number and told me it was processing my booking.

Called Adelaide independent taxis. Spoke to a human who booked us in.

Shortly afterwards the 13CABS driver called again to confirm our destination, 45 minutes after the original call. I asked him to confirm which company he worked for, to make sure I didn't chew out the wrong bloke. He was unable to process this request and hung up on me.

The independent taxi arrived and ferried us home promptly. The driver recieved a solid tip.

Then, 90 minutes after the original call, I got an SMS from 13 CABS telling me that our cab was arriving.

13 CABS = BANNED.

Time to start using Uber.

Had a similar issue a few years back.
Booked in a Taxi a few days in advance for a 2am or so pick up.
Phone calls back and forth when 2am had come and gone and yep 90mins or so later they finally got a driver to do our order. They then tried saying they don't do bookings.... umm people book all the tine, particularly those going to airport early am...
Just ******* disgraceful

That could be in the blackballed thread.

BTW, welcome to the 2010's. Uber is by far a superior service than taxis but also think about using Didi and others that offer the same service cheaper.

They've taken the vision down now but this was bad and totally unnecessary
There is no excuse for this sort of driving someone's head into the ground
It's not tough!

River Murray Football League match called off early following dangerous tackle
A local game has been abandoned after a ‘dangerous tackle’ left one player stranded on the ground for more than 30 minutes waiting for an ambulance.

A River Murray Football League match was abandoned on Saturday after a “dangerous tackle” left a Mannum player stranded on the field for more than 30 minutes with a “serious injury”.

Mannum’s Mitchell Smith was tackled by Southern Mallee vice captain Billy McNeilly in the third quarter of their league clash at Lameroo Oval, leaving the young Roos player unresponsive for more than 20 minutes.

An ambulance took around half an hour to arrive at the ground, with trainers and officials providing umbrellas and blankets to shield Smith from the rain and keep him warm while waiting for assistance.

Commentator Matt Hood was calling the game when the incident unfolded, with RMFL vision showing Smith gathering the ball before seemingly being slammed headfirst into the ground by McNeilly.

“That’s a dangerous tackle, that’s not a good tackle,” Hood said.

“I think he’s out to it at the moment.”

Despite the scary nature of the “serious injury”, Smith was said to be conscious and talking when the ambulance arrived and was in “jovial spirits”, according to Mannum officials.

Southern Mallee, who was leading Mannum by 42 points at the time of the incident, was awarded the win for the match despite it being called off early.

Mrs Columbo ordered Chicken and Chips from our preferred shop in Woodville last week (if you know the area you likely know the one).
We are about a 10 - 15 min drive away but with priority the food is always hot when it arrives. Last Friday night we ordered a little later than usual and expected it would take a while but because of priority weren't too bothered.
We messaged the driver and he said the shop was crazy busy but it shouldn't be long. Checked the app about 10min later to see he was mobile, but instead of heading towards us he was now on Grange Road which is the opposite direction from us.
We messaged him and got no reply, then he called as he was heading back in our direction to say he had to do another pick up but ours was still the first drop off so we were still priority so don't worry. By the time he got to us it would have been 25-30 mins from when he left the shop with our order so no great surprise that everything in the bag besides the chicken was cold but he was adamant that he hadn't done anything wrong.

First time we have ever had that happen, we have had drivers stop along the way and pick up another order for Door Dash or Menulog a couple of times when we have paid for priority but most of the time find the drivers are usually really good.
Trust the process.

We have zero issues with our neighbors.

Waking up this morning to find broken bottles and glass in our driveway and under our cars after an 18th birthday party straight across the road last night. Lucky I went to our bin this morning otherwise my lad would have driven straight over it all when going to work today

Adelaide drivers are the worst I've ever experienced.

I saw someone go through a red light last night well after it changed
I reckon they sped up to get through as well
Bad luck for them - camera went off $$$$$$$$$$$$

One thing I noticed this morning
I stopped for the lights outside Marryatville High
A girl walked across without looking either way
Seriously? Well, I suppose no-one's ever been cleaned up at that crossing

dear lord. i'd be too nervous that car would fall apart if you touched it.

I don't doubt there is much worse places i've driven in but the places i've driven in Adelaide are the worst.

Saying that i haven't driven in bali or paris and have no desire too after seeing it.

LA is the best ive experienced. Basically anywhere in the States ive driven is better,
New Zealand
Brisbane
Melbourne
Sydney
London
Germany

I haven’t driven in Manila despite being there several times but have driven in Jakarta and it’s bedlam and probably the worst I’ve driven in which is a big call considering I’ve driven in Bangkok and HCMC at peak times.
Driving in the UAE is fun as the infrastructure is superb and you have 4 and 5 lane freeways out in the middle of nowhere. The Abu Dhabi to Al Ain highway had a 160km/hr speed limit which was fun in the rental car. I heard that since our last trip they have cut it back to 140km/hr but a few highways have a minimum speed of 120km/hr and the fines are far higher for going too slow than they are for speeding. Emirati folk don’t believe in indicators anywhere though and will just change lanes when they feel like it :)
I’m one of those that love to drive everywhere overseas so have no problems in the big cities
