Consistent player who tackles and defends very well. About right for mine.

Smith though is a shadow of his former self and this shows in his kicking. Was amongst the best kicks in the league and something went terribly wrong this year. They had him seventh.

Surprised that O'Brien not in the top 10 (I think he played every game). Also surprised that Rankine was fourth.

BUT. They see every game and know better than everyone what was expected that is not always reflected in stats.

"Premier Peter Malinauskas reveals $15m funds in ‘critical last step’"

Correct Dutchy - not a last step at all - they need to get an oval first..............

He was generally a good player though. Fair few injuries, but generally a good player footballer.

Was in a league of his own, nobody has come close to registering as many kicks off the shin as Liptak.

On paper, our full strength 2024 team is weaker than our 2023 team. I know some players will naturally get better but it's a bit disappointing we haven't actively sort some key positions (i.e. defender, midfielder). Look at how much Dawson and Rankine have improved the team. Must draft well.

How so? Cause of McAdam? I dont think so.
At worse, we break even 2023 to 2024 with list, and with dare i say it organic growth with the kids, we should be better on paper in 2024.

edit: forgot about Doedee! Ok yeah i can see slightly backwards now...

You're not building for a tilt at the flag in 2024 though, with picks 10, 14 and 20 on top of the *ahem* growth of the likes of Soligo, Thilthorpe, Pedlar, Michalanney, Worrall etc you're building for a tilt in 2026 and beyond.

Our strategy is about keeping the window open for as long as we can, yours is about opening it up.

Yeah Doedee and McAdam out - both Round 1 starters this season. Burgess in. Maybe we've been spoilt the last few seasons but I would like to have seen another in. Petty would be huge.

But yes, as Booney says rightly, next year probably isn't quite the year just yet (but I would love Walker and Sloane to have another crack and I don't think they'll be in the best 22 for much longer).
