It's **** November..

We started last night, but it's optional sessions pre-xmas once a week. We certainly aren't phased if we get 2, 20 or 200 out - really up to the players who are keen.

Seasons are so long as it is, yet every year feels like clubs want to make them even longer just to keep up / match everyone else.

Pre-xmas is largely a waste of time IMO... most blokes in this level are only gonna go on a 2 week bender over xmas / NYE anyway.

Agreed 100%. Flaggies have won 7 of the last 8 flags n the SFL, if you have a look at their session numbers at the moment they'd barely have more than a dozen.

if this was March, then Salisbury would be up the proverbial without a paddle

Probably because Flaggies don't start training until January...

True, they're voluntary sessions, Points still stands though, there's a handful of footballers running around in November

Training now until Xmas is the biggest waste of time. you get some fitness and then you p**s it all away over xmas.

A div 3 club have been training for over 3 weeks now. 3 sessions a week doing up to 8km's a session.

There are some benefits to it in regards to new coaches, new players and to gauge commitment but any sort of running is pretty much wasted energy unless the players stick to a program during the break.

It’s a bit different now compared to even 15 years ago. The body is a temple (for many) even for lower division players. There is benefit however you also don’t want to burn yourself out by rounds 6-14 when things get really tough.

Heard Old Bedge was doing the rounds yesterday. Was seen at multiple clubs with lookouts on the prowl for new players. Was incognito wearing a cricket top.

Reconnaissance work, not looking for players... 8)

Left Fitzroy mountain feeling somewhat apprehensive about the Lions.. good numbers, looked fit, some tall timber and young. Eastern Park and Central United still the early favourites with the bookies, but I wouldn't be sleeping on Fitzroy by any means. They looked sharp.

Eastern Park, Farm and The Roy Boys odds on for promotion. Lutherans, Elizabeth the next rung. Houghton, Salisbury, Units, Saint Pauls and Rosewater to round out the bottom half of the ladder.
