Not sure if this fails in the laugh, sad or mad section but after a record breaking years in profits for Coles... Coles in their wisdom will be giving every employee a Coles water bottle for a xmas present .... ( this is not comedy either )

Profits are for shareholders, not employees. Sad but true...
I work for a global company (very large, 45,000 employees) and at best we get something similar, or a deck chair, or picnic set etc all marked with the company brand.
I can see it from a company point of view too when you have so many people...imagine having to give out decent presents/Christmas bonuses to 45,000 people!

To be fair to Coles they just want their staff to be hydrated at work for ohs purposes.
It's a practical gift.

But yes it's a little odd

Funny story about this. My work once tried to get our workers to swallow a tracking device the size of a Panadol capsule, to track their hydration levels in summer to prove that extra breaks in the heat was not required.

My old boss bought a pallet of cleanskin 2019 Tempranillo. I knew where he got it from, just happened to be a mate that organised the sale, $90 a case of 12, it was some of the Riverlands finest :D
My boss then asked me to source some 6 pack cartons and split them down to 6 packs and give every employee a 6 pack for xmas, all up about 20 employees.
He's of Italian heritage.

Monitor hydration or monitor core temperature?

We (NTIS/CDU) did a lot of research measuring temperature via data loggers and a pill on AFL players (Essendon & West Coast) in the early 00s when they played preseason games in Darwin (where I saw first hand the players check in with Dr Reid if anything that they were taking remotely dodgy) fast forward when he was shut out of that in 2012

Also did work on the Army in the field and other athletes.

Simplest measure of hydration is piss into a cup and measure someones Urine Specific Gravity. closer to 1.0 hydration above 1.02 dehydrated...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yeah could have been core temperature...to be honest the idea lasted about 30 minutes of a OH&S meeting before it was thrown out.
