The condition of the grounds is the biggest factor here that no one is talking about. The are basically playing on concrete these days, i couldnt believe the Adelaide oval surface when i got the chance to play on it a few years ago. It doesnt look or feel real at all.
It would be interesting to look at concussions from contact with the ground by venues. Compare the once or twice a year grounds to the every week grounds. To do this effectively maybe we would have to look at concussions at SANFL, VFL and WAFL from contact with the ground. I feel as though its a rare occurrence in the SANFL with the softer grounds

There is a clear agenda to protect the head at all costs to the game. Why don't the AFL come out and say that. Stop treating us like fools. In saying that, how on earth that sniper from Gold Coast only got one week is beyond baffling for the same reason I just said above.
Seems one week they punish the act, then the next week they punish the outcome.
One week for an elbow to the head. Not a football act and the injury could've been a lot worse.
If that's not worse than Bedfords or Cameron's I'll eat my hat.
As far as protecting the head, they have to take into account accidental contact or blokes are not going to attack the footy or apply a tackle. I've already seen 2 blokes running at a 50/50 ball and they both pull up and look at each other.

They have gotten to the point where players are only safe from suspension when they attack the ball without protecting themselves. If they don't protect themselves they won't get rubbed out but risk a concussion or worse. If they do protect themselves they risk a lengthy holiday.
For mine Cameron seemed to get pulled over onto Duggan by Duggan trying to wrestle his way out of the tackle. That exact tackle on someone who doesn't have a history of head knocks is probably in next years training video.
Agree though if the umpire blew his whistle as soon as he was wrapped up then this isn't an issue. It was either enough prior or it wasn't. Ball it up or ping him.

I reckon Duggan has felt that more than the head hitting the deck. The controlling umpire should have blown the whistle a lot earlier you are correct.
