Sad news, Black Caviar has passed away.

I know that’s the industry but doesn’t sound like she had a great life in retirement

Died whilst giving birth to foal number 9 in a 10 year period.
Basically she was pregnant for most of her life since retirement so as to make more money from her owners that had already made a packet off her.

Yeah not loving the fact she was a walking foal factory.
Just greedy buggers in my opinion.

Horses gestate for around 330 days, if she's having foal number 9 in her 10th year at stud she has basically been in foal the whole time. Not sure even the hardest of racing supporters could say that's treating her very well.

Maybe give her a year off occasionally?

I know bugger all about breeding horses, but I can't see how this is respecting an animal that won the owners plenty of cash and a bloody good time.

Junipal on their heels 5th or 6th but missed the kick from an inside draw. Settles closer and its in the finish. Flat.
