Tanunda trying to play it off as their only chance for finals…. Needing 10 wickets for an outright win in 12 balls of an innings is never going to happen and is a joke. The league should take action and strip points / fine the two clubs as that is a clear case of a fixed result.

If the league don’t take appropriate action, it will clearly show the rest of the competition that it is fine to fix results, do dodgy under the table deals moving forward….

I know online it looks like they had two overs but i heard it was only one over so Tanunda could not win. Apparently a deal was done that if Kapunda didnt get the runs they were going to declare and give the win to Tanunda allowing them to make the 4.
Agreed both clubs should lose their points and face a fine. It wont change who makes the 4 but would put South back into 2nd position.

Quite a few competitions schedule one dayers for the final round for this exact reason. Clubs either giving up because they can't make finals and gifting away points or desperate clubs opting for Hail Marys

Agree, horrible look and whilst i've got some mates at Kapunda, yeah is a bit dodgy.

In fairness though if the South Gawler blokes just tried for one second to not be such a bunch of toss bags it probably wouldn't have happened. Not sure i was the only one who smirked seeing South drop to third.

Happened many moons ago in the PDCA in a few different grades, it prompted harsh penalties from then on.

One year we were fighting off relegation and we played the undefeated Eastern Park in the last round.

They made around 260 and bowled us out for about 110 with about 20 overs remaining, we offered them a few cartons if they declared at 0/0 to set us a target to chase down, they were a bit reluctant but said yeah as we went over to the pub and bought the piss straight away.

Shaun Maguire went bang and we made the runs comfortably, Eastern Park then lost their semi the following week against South Gawler who had finished 4th, we went and were supporting Eastern Park but they blamed us for derailing their season.

That was the year i played.........haha.

We won the semi final beating a para teachers side that had a Mark Hansen who had hit 1000 runs that year.

Then lost to South Gawler in the GF who finished fourth. We had them 5/20 with Kenny McConnell taking 3/0. Simon Hogan then hit 100 alongside Danny Kaye who hit a 50 (ended up winning a premiership with Danny) they got to 350 plus and we were bowled out for next to nothing.

Yeah we did, we finished top and had the home final against the fourth placed South Gawler. That was div2, got promoted, made the first div1 finals appearance for EP in a million moons on the back of Kev Thomas coming to the club. (IIRC we also had the great man Trevor Bailey R.I.P play a few games that year in what was a lethal bowling line up) and then it kind of all went to shit in typical eastern park style from there.

How is this about south, did they play in the game mentioned? How are you possibly congratulating a team on cheating….

Haha Danny is a good mate of mine and off field is a really good bloke. Agree on field he wouldn't have to many cricketers from opposition clubs offering him a beer and in typical fashion of someone who grew up at South Gawler i think he likes it that way.

It's weird how there's blokes like this, 95% of them would be a flogger off the field if they are on it, one of our team mates used to drive me insane on the field with his carry-on, not just at the opposition either, but he was a great mate and genuine good bloke off the field.

One day he was meant to come in at 6 and was padded up, I said to him "Hey Daz, I'm gonna move Johnno up ahead of you to have a bit of a slap". He looked at me and said "Yeah, whatever man, it's only an extra ball I'm gonna have to wait". This was while Johnno was sitting right there.

The right decision was reached in the end, Kapunda didnt get the outright win. They retained their 1st innings points, not sure if there was any fines handed out. South to host Kapunda this week, lets hope Cogan and Drewer arent umpiring like the debacle in the Semi Final last year

Sounds fair to me, perhaps both captains, Cornish and Harslett can pay it out of their hefty salary

Any reason Sandy Creek aren’t required / haven’t supplied a pitch for this weekend?! Seems the toys might be out the cot after no teams in the big dance….

I note the A3 game was scheduled there this weekend and has been relocated.

As of this moment its saying Souths opponent is TBD i n the A1s, is there some kind of protest going on? Maybe thats why the A3 game was moved because if Sandy Creek are awarded a win they would be hosting the A1s.
