Six weeks out from finals and Skehan’s Sauce has emerged as the form team of the competition after knocking off top side Pigs Arsenal in a cracking Divvy III clash last weekend. The Pigs looked ok for most of the match only for Skehan to salute in the end. Another team looking good of late is Trotters who won a high quality match against an unlucky Fightin Ryan who deserve better than their current standing on the ladder. Apart from Pigs, most of the top eight prospered this week with the exception Smashed Crabs who were outpaced by the Turtles. The Turtles’ win keeps the door open for a heap of chasing teams so Smashed will be feeling pretty Crabby about that result. A few of the stragglers are in deep shit. Brodlach looks out of his depth in this league which is so Essendon. It was a lamentable effort against Sarah who romped to a massive win. Birthday boy@JK (Happy Birthday dude) also lost the unloseable to Ginger Ninjas who had been travelling about as well as Usman Khwaja in recent weeks. The Wizards Sleeves lost their recent magic and the Hawks didn’t get off the ground while Killer Wombats got Killed. The competition for relegation spots is on in earnest here.

Relegation candidate Wizards Sleeves pulled off the performance of the round when they racked up an improbable 2341 to destroy Brodlach Bombers and put their Division III spot in severe jeopardy. While it’s too late for the Wizards to make their mark finals wise they won’t be a great match up for contenders on the run home. Speaking of contenders it seems Sarah’s Dream Team is one of those again after they got the vital win against Trotters who are currently in eighth spot. Sarah has a vastly inferior percentage to the Trotters so it was a match she had to win if she hopes to displace the Trotters from the finals. Most of the top teams got the job done this week with the exception of Chicken Twisties who has gone off the boil in recent weeks. Anytime Turtles got another scalp on the way to reviving their season and they are looming large as a possible finalist provided the wins keep coming. Perhaps one of the more important wins this week was when Hawkers defeated Killer Wombats. Both teams have been struggling to score in recent weeks so that Hawkers win could save them from the drop with Wizards looming late.

Not a massive scoring week in SuperCoach but someone forgot to tell Chicken Twisties who racked up 2363 in their big win over Sarah’s boys. Skehan went even bigger to fleece the Golden one while The Cats also got to 2300 with a comfortable win over the suddenly out of form again Trotters who are now outside the eight. Pigs Arsenal took over from Persh as the team to beat a few months back but this week Persh turned the tables on the Pigs who were well beaten. Cobwebs bridged the gap by smashing the wooden spooner elect Ginger Ninjas. Finals time in three weeks and there are still 14 teams in this comp so a pretty tight league. Not sure the teams currently outside the eight have the consistency to make up the small gap but Fightin Ryan has been in good form lately even though that perecentage isn’t great. The top four look settled despite Twisties efforts and in the relegation battle maybe Wizards has done enough despite the loss last weekend.

With one week to go it was Smashed Crabs and Hawkers were the starring teams with Smashed Crabs putting in a down payment for the double chance while Hawkers eluded the relegation zone with their win over fellow battler Wizards. Pigs Arsenal won the minor premiership when they carved up what is left of Killer Wombats while Cobwebs should be safe in the top four with that extra win over the pack. The seemingly indestructible Trotters are somehow back in the eight but with their up and down season who knows if they survive this time next week. The teams on ten wins not only need to win but they might need to make up percentage as well and the end of season draw for Golden Fleece has done them no favours. In the relegation battle the bottom three are going down even though mathematically Wombats and Bombers are a chance. Neither side is scoring well enough to get it done though. This leaves Wizards up against Bont while Cider is up against Chicken Twisties. Cider racked up a decent score and might get it done against the Chooks but you can’t see him getting much of a percentage booster even if he does get up. Whether he needs one is another question but you’d be on Wizards to survive.

Smashed Crabs have boogied in sideways to be a sneaky premiership chance if recent results are anything to go by. They wrapped up their minor round campaign with a four hundred point smashing of a suspect Sauce who suddenly look like the red headed stepchild at the family Christmas, just ready for a seasonal smacking. Mighty Pigs Arsenal landed on their arse this time last year and but you lot have dropped the ball and now the Pigs sit proudly on top of the table. Shame on you all. Another pig, the Trotters, along with fellow ladies Persh and Sarah have all made the top eight. A special shout out to Sare who as the highest placed Hogg rookie this season has done a bang up job to make the eight after looking gawn for all money a few weeks back. Speaking of Gawn, poor old Permstance’s Deep in Cider racked up their biggest score of the season but wtf so did Wizards so it’s bye bye Cider down to Divvy IV you go. Broadlach down too even though his offspring Turtles only just missed the eight and Wombats and Gingernuts were nowhere near it for most of the year. Looking to finals Pigs will clearly flog Skehan and get revenge for the earlier defeat while I’m liking the Crabs to scuttle away the Cobwebs. In the knockouts I reckon Trotters can end Twisties year and I think Persh will win the ladies only match in the other one.

Congratulations to Smashed Crabs who are the first team to be promoted into Hogg Division II in 2026. The Crabs just got over the line against an unlucky Cobwebs who missed automatic promotion by just five points. Pigs Arsenal made light work of Skehan but no promotion for Arsenal remember. Persh kept their season alive with a narrow victory while Chicken Twisties went out rather meekly to the Trotters in their knockout final.

Semi Final weekend was ‘ladies night’ in Hogg Division III after leading ladies Trotters and Persh FC both won through to the Division III preliminary final round and have both been promoted to Hogg Division II next season. Trotters have been up there before but it will be uncharted waters for Persh in her third Hogg season. The other team to go up with them was King Cobwebs as they finished above Skehan’s Sauce on the ladder so well done Cobwebs you will be up in Division II next season along with the ladies. Bad luck to Skehan who were well beaten in their two finals but they will be strong contenders for the finals next year in this league. Looking forward to the Prelims, Pigs Arsenal is looking a little wobbly as I can’t cover my soft Port duds who pulled stumps early this year. Trotters could be a surprise Grand Finalist. The other prelim will be a cracker. Persh has been in fantastic form of late but I reckon Smashed Crab wins this premiership so she’s a bit unlucky to cop the tougher prelim of the two.

Persh FC looks set to land the Division III premiership after an impressive victory over Smashed Crabs in the 2nd Preliminary Final. I thought the Crabs would be hard to stop in this league but Persh did it pretty easily, running away to a 145 point victory which makes you think the Crabs were a gun short in this one. The other Prelim was a real cripple fight between two teams who gave everything they had just to get this far. Pigs Arsenal is in all sorts of bother thanks to having too many soft Power players and Trotters were even worse and with even worse backup players. Pigs got the captaincy call wrong too and did not deserve to win but somehow did.

Now that Persh has knocked off the genuine challengers it's pretty hard to see anything other than a Persh victory in the Grand Final this weekend. Pigs will be scratching around trying to cobble together a slightly better score but won't be able to cover Persh's superior scoring power. This is probably the weakest Division III I can recall but next year will be tougher given some of the quality in the league below. But a flag is a flag and it will be Persh who will be waving one this weekend.

Congratulations to Maddy whose Persh FC has won the Piglet/Hogg double with her Hogg Division III premiership to go along with her Piglet Shield victory. It's been a cracking season by Persh who somehow had trades left even though Pigs ran out of ours many weeks ago. Pigs had up five starters sidelined so at full strength would have proven hard to beat but the trade burning sunk them and it was a well deserved victory to Persh who has to go out and get some silver polish this week. A very polished....heh heh...performance. Maybe next year for Pigs but Divvy III was pretty slack this year.
