I can see your drop off coming as quickly as Adelaide in 2019 with few high picks in this draft and not really being able to bring players in unless you move on a bigger name.

I’m not trolling, I was having a discussion in the office with a Port nuffy and we were debating if its the coach or list which hampered the team.
PS I wouldn’t have thought I was someone who trolled intentionally

I don't think we played enough kids along the Kenny journey and the ones we trialed we either were too spasmodic or they just weren't up to it, I hope we just don't continue to go down the recycled 24-26 year old path and expect miracles, we get good games out of those in that category but no consistency. Our success rate with that thought process would have to be less than 30%

Re: PAFC 2025
List discussion aside, there has to be some concern on the impact Carr can have….. He’s driving the bus now isn’t he?
The forward handball attacking game plan is his…. But only some of the squad seem to be able to execute it consistently.

We played one game style for 8 years under the same coach that failed repeatedly in big games. Why would you bother digging any deeper?Brodlach wrote:I thought LM was talking about playing quality kids, if I’m wrong I apologizeBooney wrote:Brodlach wrote:I think you are over rating your list and can see where LM is coming from to some extent

Re: PAFC 2025
As you can see on the Adelaide thread I mentioned how bad our list was. Looking at that list no doubt Ports is currently better than that list but will be interesting to see in 5 yearsBooney wrote:Given the detail I've gone into with our list profile I simply cannot fathom how you're comparing the two.Brodlach wrote:Can’t rely on Esava week in week out with both his body and how he plays and Allir will be 32 next year.

At the end of 2019 :
Eddie Betts (trd)
Richard Douglas (del)
Cam Ellis-Yolmen (FA)
Hugh Greenwood (trd)
Paul Hunter (del)
Sam Jacobs (trd)
Josh Jenkins (trd)
Alex Keath (trd)

The numbers don't lie though, players we've drafted since 2017 make up half of our current side and many of them are our keys and have games under their belt. I've not mentioned Lord, Evans, Mead who all look to have something to offer.
Every club drafts players who play 5 games in 3 years and disappear, why would we be any different?

Re: PAFC 2025
I think he is saying out of the names you’ve mentioned, and not all draft selections have been listed, that only 5 are proven
Butters
Rozee
MG
Bergman
Farrell
The rest are ho hum or unproven.

Re: PAFC 2025
It's not so much the level of talent ( obviously important ) but the profile. By 2019 Adelaide had too many 28 year old spuds on the list, that's why you fell off the cliff and the fact you gave up 10 and 16 for Gibbs in 2017, wasted 9, 16 and 30 on Jones, McHenry and Hamill the next year and 6 and 24 on McAsey and Schoenberg the next year put you right behind the 8 ball.Brodlach wrote:As you can see on the Adelaide thread I mentioned how bad our list was. Hard to tell, one of our worst runs with injuries this year since Ken took over (it is what it is).mots02 wrote:List discussion aside, there has to be some concern on the impact Carr can have….. He’s driving the bus now isn’t he?

2026 - easier draw, hopefully a healthier list & with those two things alone we are likely to rise (how far, not sure). That may blind some general thoughts on whether the coaching has an impact or not next year.
Whether game plan or coaching contributes to that, it is impossible to know at the moment. All i know is 2025 was a complete waste of a year (besides some development to younger guys)

In saying that, we lost to some bottom teams earlier in the year so draw may not make much of a difference. List health is important though

Lost to bottom sides and got smacked by top sides, there's been a lot going wrong since the hand over was announced on and off field.bertiebeatle1 wrote:In saying that, we lost to some bottom teams earlier in the year so draw may not make much of a difference. List health is important though

I guess my point is, you’re not going to get a tactical spike with Carr as he’s already implementing the ‘new’ tactics this year. Unless he tweaks it or the players implement better.bertiebeatle1 wrote:Hard to tell, one of our worst runs with injuries this year since Ken took over (it is what it is).mots02 wrote:List discussion aside, there has to be some concern on the impact Carr can have…..
