Fair play to England their bowling today was very good put pressure on with their lengths

Batted smart put the pressure back on us (helped with poor lines) and then hit the cruise button.

Best team won

Pitch is a disgrace like the Perth one but not the reason why we lost

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yep, well played Pommie bastards.

Tongue MotM and Bethell looked alright despite the peroxide tips, so not all doom and gloom.

CA are tight arses, they’ll do everything possible to keep the coin.

I reckon if the test last three days it’s on the players, à la Melbourne in 86-87 and 10-11 when we lost

However if it’s a two day test the pitch is the main reason

Players were poor but pitch deserves to cop it too.
It was a poor pitch hopefully it’s rated that way too

One eyed post again
Didja forget the first test went 2 days and Australia won

But the pitch is the main reason- so can agree
Plus the law of averages , that England had to win a test in Australia eventually

Fantastic. Hopefully Jim Jones, sorry I mean Baz, is still in charge come the next Ashes.

Australia, lost 20 wickets in less than 80 overs.

It's the quickest the Aussies have been bowled out twice in a Test since 1928.

Even if Melbourne went the full five days - i.e. finishing at the end of Tuesday - it's still a complete joke that the Sydney test is scheduled to start on Sunday (i.e. Days 2-5 will be working days for many people) rather than a Saturday. Two or three days' break - fine. Four days' break - no thanks, let's get two weekend days in, rotate your squad if folks can't pull up.

They’re beholden to the calendar as both Tests are dictated by Boxing Day, but I get what you mean.

Just checked, surprisingly Perth got a “very good” rating which I thought was too high, https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/ashes-2025-26-icc-hands-down-pitch-rating-for-two-day-perth-test-1513164 However given better judges than I Vaughn, Agnew Atherton and Hussain thought Englands preparation contributed to the outcome

Hopefully this pitch isn’t rated that high
