Oh I don't doubt what you heard but I do wonder when KG last read the laws of Australian football.

With respect to the handball under law 1.1 a handball is defind as hitting the ball off an open hand with a clenched fist. Ergo if the ball is not on the hand (has been thrown in the air then hit) or has been hit with an open hand (flick pass or scooping up motion) it is an illegal disposal 15.3.2 and hence a free kick.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Who as the last person to kick a goal from a drop-kick?

I know Greg Phillips did it against Glenelg in round 2, 1987...

for those that don't know a place kick is like a rugby player kicking for a goal conversion (or whatever it's called)

I find it amazing the number of rules that are not in the rule book. I can't find any reference stating you can't do it, but I'm not surprised if it's an "unwritten rule".

There's still a number of fans that call for "dropping the ball". Unless there has been a change to the rules, there is no such rule as "dropping the ball". Holding the ball is another story, which is often what they mean, but "dropping the ball" is always a bit bemusing.

I have always assumed that those asking for "dropping the ball" are really asking for "incorrect disposal"?

I remember listening to the radio when they described him kicking one from the goalsquare against Sturt, game was at Adelaide Oval, i reckon late 80's, or maybe some time in the early 90's.
