i dont think Bassani has the coaching abilities as some of the other blokes down at mvale. he had a very experienced sqaud down at EB last year and didnt make finals, the man is a great adminstrator, but as a coach i wouldnt appoint him. Would no doubt contribute to the club in some other way than what happens on the field!

He would more than likely want to play too...

So you obviously don't rate him Hills, have you been coached by him before in the past?

i dont rate him compared to Early from Mvale.

Have you played for Early before Hills..??

Reynella to win to keep their top 4 chance alive, a big chance still to make the top 4.
Flaggies
Porties - Bye bye Christies
Noarlunga - Should make the finals, first time for a while with a young squad
Aldinga - C'mon Sharky's, do it for Shrivey...!!!!
Emu's - Couldn't agree with you more on who we play twice.
Cove - Clearly the best side in the comp at the moment and passing every test that is thrown at them.

I for one beleive M.vale have a coach in their own back yard who I am sure can do the gig down there,David Earl great bloke and all the credentials to fill the role. Your thoughts??

No news on Steve as yet, if that is the way the 18's comp go and South end up with Steve, they could do a lot worse, he handles the junior grades well at Morphies and would be a good fit... Knowing Steve the way i do i'm sure nothing will be concrete till this year's job is finished, it is his sole focus at the moment. As for Early, he has been Steve's assistant for 3 years now and knows the players well and i'm sure will be considered for the job when interviews come around, haven't spoke to him personally about the position and am not sure on his aspirations for next year.

Steve wont be coaching at all next year.... He is wanting to spend more time with his family and has spent alot of time at the MV footy club in the past 5 or so years instead of being at home. He also has increasing work demands that have to be met and wants to sit back and watch teh kids play....

Postponed not cancelled. South were concerned that with games against West Adelaide this weekend and Centrals next weekend the oval wouldn't be in as good a shape as possible if they had the carnival there this weekend as well.

It will now be held on the 24th, the day after the Centrals game.

SENIORS Rd 17

Reynella V Valleys, Good contest Valleys to prevail
Flagstaff hill V Hackham, Yawn, more of the same bad publicity for SFL, Flaggies to stumble over line
Porties V Christies, will only be making up the numbers, Porties V BDOS 'C' grade game would more interesting. Porties
Noarlunga V Morphie Park, again more false hope, not expecting good quality footy. Noarlunga @ home
Aldinga V Marion, like to see Aldinga get over the line at least they are trying as a club
M/Vale V OSB, Morphies on the rebound by a country mile. Just on this how does the SFL explain the reigning Premier getting multiple games against the likes of Marion and OSB??

BDOS V COVE, Should be a cracker hope the ground holds up. Cove have the strength and the runners to account for BDOS, Cove by a whisker.

Vic,U/6 U/7 CARNIVAL HAS BEEN PUT FORWARD 1 WEEK,dont know why?

Sorry mate, i know what you mean with nicknames, can play footy with a bloke for years and never know his real name... Also helps when trying to describe someone that you get their nicknames right... I was talking about none other than Craig "Killer" Curtis... Is he still around your club..?? Would fit with the 18's nicely...

Aaaah the ol mate Killer, yeah great idea. He has alot to do with the Hockey club and comes to watch every now and then but hasn't had much to do this year. May be a great way of getting him back onboard in 09. Great bloke with alot of passion thats for sure. Don't know how he'd go holding a coaches board though, he might have to give up his ice coffee for that hour and a half!!!

And on this weekend we are going all out against Marion and are keen to take the points, At Aldinga we have a little saying

I have heard the Brighton oval gets terrible... I think Cove will continue on there winning ways....

Jono, the oval will be ok if we dont get too much more rain, the last 2 days would have been good for it with some sun and a bit of wind, they normally bring out the roller after a mow which compacts it a bit... But if she comes down on sat expect a slippery one.

I have seen and played in plenty of SFL ovals like this- 00, 01. I reckon Brighton, Happy Valley, Flagstaff hill, and Reynella were like pongy. I think the drought in the previous years has saved most grounds this year from very sloppy conditions.

Great piece of useless info know all. When we played at Kangarilla in my junior days, I lost a boot on the warm up lap!!! Mud sucked it in like a sinkhole, an A grader found it later in the day. Was pretty funny but shows how bad the oval was. The ball would be torpedoed about 40 metres then not even baounce or move, just lodge in the mud.

Remember Hackham oval being quite bad in the late 90's, before the drainage was done, now it's one of the best ovals in the league!

Just a side point of interest, especially talking of coaches etc

Today the SANFL has officially announced that they are getting rid of the current U17 & U19 format. This means they are moving to U18 with a condensed U16 season starting 2009.

With the U18s, clubs will be permitted to play a maximum of 6x U19 players each week.

I assume a media release will be available on the sanfl website

Thats not going to happen. With all the rain we've had, and also a junior carnival last weekend, the oval is a mess but not as bad as some of the others.

Please stop doing your rain dance Lionheart, as we have a stack of players ruled out with injury in the Emus camp as well!

Also on Vics01's point, id be all for the SFL brainstrust to start "doctoring" the draw so the top teams played each other twice each year. I think only Brighton play each top 6 team twice this year (as DTH may have told us a few times).

Speaking of Brighton - i would have thought them beating us in most grades last weekend would have brought out some words from the infamous Hotdogs??
