Many moons ago when I played there, we had a full back, Roo Meat Bob Davis(his old man had a kangaroo processing factory) who could drop kick a ball from fullback to CHF with ease. Made it simple for the forwards and sometimes even made me look good too!

When you played Ace wouldnt his nail on spriggs have come off if he kicked that far

They certainly were around then but a good sprigger was worth every beer he earnt in those days.
When the umpire made his check before the game they were in tact; as soon as that was finished, off came the top layer of leather just for climbing up the back of your opponents calf. It would rip the sh*t out of his socks and half his leg to boot!
Those were the days my friend!

from my understanding he was reported by the umpire we had on the weekend because after the hearing of our player (Erick Banner) he didn't agree and had a word to the umpire. the umpire ran inside and reported him for 'threatening' or something of the likes...

the other thing is i think he has stepped down from the presidency role.... stay tuned...

Naughty, naughty, he should know by now that umpires are precious.
Silly thing to do whilst still inside the "house of horror" with those stern faced gents, just itching to make like they really are Supreme Court judges.

Still rather silly given that a report can be made for reactions and behaviour to a verdict/sentence. They have the power and love using it at any time, some of those umpires.

To NG and the Ovies boys keep your heads up another wins not far off,and as weve always said having 2 sides in div 7 & 7r is alot more credible than having one side running around in the c grade comps winning flags every year.stick with it boys and band together to surport your club GO U CATS

cheers wattle. i definately would rather be playin in Div 7 than the C grade comps, we may not win the flag this year (although it is still to early to discount the fact, i remember Henley finished 5th in 04 and won the flag) but i'm here for the long haul. i'd love to see Ovies with even 3 sides in a year or twos time. would be great to see and not impossible either!

the cats will live on and there are a great bunch of blokes out there that are enjoyin their footy and we'll go alright over the next few years...

tell Klompy too that we may need him back next year... without givin him a big(ger) head... cheers

well Ovies supporters, bandwagoners and baggers... this week was an embarrasing 99pt loss in the A grade and 71pts in the Magoos. not good results at all... however we have between 6 and 11 players that will be available for selection in the A's next week (2-3 from promotion) so we should see a revitalised side next week against top side Henley.
although very easy to drop the head at this point we need to rally to get our season back on track. 'tis a long year in footy and we have enough talent do shake things up but we need to perform...

well done to young Adam 'Sexy' Cameron who got the call up to play A's this week, solid effort by the young bloke. amazing really that about 6-7 years ago (i think) he was strugglin with Leukaemia and was told he had a limited time line and would never play competitive sport again... the kids got courage that everyone should draw from and this week he was rewarded for his efforts... you're a champion Sexy!!!

NG, I notice C Newman was found guilty of 'abusive language' toward an official, so what penalty was imposed for that?

Having not played the top sides yet,and sitting at 1-4,do the boys at Ovingham still think finals is a real possibility? And where has Cataroo gone?He was full of talk earlier in the year but seems to have gone very quiet these days.

Any truth to the story that Ovies A grade coach quit today? My source is very reliable. The word is that the great Chris Newman will be taking over as of now.Surely another premiership is on its way.

yes true, outlined in the div 7 thread. Mick couldn't commit to the standard he thought necessary for an A grade coach so he resigned. Chris has taken over as an interim coach but would like to hand the reigns over to another asap.

Premierships at the moment are not being talked about. we need to get back on the winners list instead of the valiant effort list!!!

no thanks. i have enough responsibility as the skipper but i don't think i'm coach material just yet. plus playing is hard enough, i couldn't concentrate properly if i had to make changes too!

Behind every good player coach is a great assistant coach. Would be hard to do it without one.

So will this be the end to the unbeaten Premiership reign of the King of coaches??
