I heard a fvew months ago that they were investigating their options but the SFl weren't keen on having another struggling side. Unless the seperate divisions come in there is no need to have them in, even then they will struggle. Bad enough us getting belted all the time let alone have another side making the league scores look even worse week in week out.

Pretty certain he did play Clopsy. Was on Shorty most of the day IIRC.... a fair bit of scalp in that matchup..!!

Didn't think I deserved to get in the best players if I did in fact get in, as Clopsy said the boots hardly got dirty!
Was given a job to run with Shorty all day and I think Bish knew this so he sent Sorty down into the goals for most of the day. I had never played in the backlines before except for a quarter in preseason, I guess I was just lucky Shorty didn't get many kicks either.

Cyclops you were quick to bag your coach last time you played the Wineys and I thought running Baylis with Shorty and pushing him to full back was a good move that Early didnt rectify, have you changed your mind about Bishop????

Isn't mini's footy about having fun, a pathway to club footy . Brighton won the Sheep Stations.

Exactly you either have it one way or the other.

After observing yesterday I think some parents wanted a win more than the kids.

As I said earlier you teach/develop the kids all year then have a mickey mouse competition day which is not reflective of the skills learnt throughout the year. There was more focus on winning by some parents and coaches than on the kids enjoying themselves. What is being created when you have kids crying over losing a carnival and parents blaming umpires? :(

For goodness sakes wake up and let the kids have fun.[/quote]

What do you want then Vics01. Full comp or no comp and no carnival. The whole idea of a carnival is a chance to bring every club together and showcase the SFL to many of the kids and parents who may not otherwise know much outside their own childs club. It also brings other family out who may not otherwise go to watch their grandson or nephew etc. This is what League clubs have done for years with primary school footy and as a concept it works fine. Don't have a go at how Hackham ran the carnival because it was you guys who ran a carnival 2 years ago with 3 semi-finals and the 2 best teams played each other in one semi and were both eliminated due to them having the closest margin.

Crying kids and parents presumably means you are referring to your club after losing the final. My understanding was that Brighton Black won the final by 5 goals so umpiring couldn't have been a factor. Then again isn't Cove a club that creates an overly-competitive environment for their Mini's by publishing scores, best players, goalkickers on their website and does a Best & Fairest vote for each grade. Then you create a rod for your own back because the coaches are often the dad of a kid who has ability and I understand that several B & F winners have been the coaches kid which then creates tension within the ranks. This may be the same reason why you tried to copy Brighton by having derbies but had to scrap them because of internal jealousies and factions amongst your minis. And do I need to mention the anonymous letter from "Concerned Cove Parents" that was circulated to every club President about allegations surrounding Cove's approach to the Year 4/5 Carnival.

Let the Under 8, 10 and 12 comps continue the same way the Mini's has always been run. Certain parents should grow up and understand that these are development years with a focus on participation but thats it not a bad thing to have a nominal prize at the end of year as an excuse for bringing everyone together to celebrate our leagues mini's program.

Its often easy to pick the parents who were obviously sporting duds themselves and want to live their dreams through their childrens sport.

also i had it pointed out to me today that if J.farrier played yesterday there would have been 4 sets of brothers in the same team - that wouldnt happen often. Not sure if it will happen for finals though, but it could..

well done to the parks yesterday. some good battles recently in the twistie cup. as was the story yesterday. i think it'd be a shame if they missed out for the shoes as i think the parks have more of a chance in the first elim.

A bit harsh TC as we belted M/Parks last time we played and the start of the year went down by 2 points in that history making free kick count 40/15

not deliberately being harsh, but can only go on what we've come up against and only having played you guys once, on ur home deck i just believe parks are the better side this year. thats all

No offence to the rest of the group but we had probably three of the best and most important key positioned players out yesterday in Milo, Jason Farrier and Shane Smith 3 out of our spine which when back will help considerably. We can only play with the group we have on ground and I thought even though we started well we didn't finish off in the second half.
Was a tough slog by both groups in extremely windy conditions. Should be a great contest if we get those three blokes back plus Matt Corstens back into the group next time we play them.
All credit to the Morphies blokes though they were just too good on the day.

Haven't heard yet as to the extent of Milo and Smith, but knowing those two blokes they will play again before the years out. Farrier I think will be back either this week or next.

only sh#t stirring ya p32,to be honest mate it was a hard slog for all on sunday and no one for me stood out at all,on the players out think u will find both sides had alot of quality out but to be honest in them conditions i dont think any player would have been able to dominate and make too much of a difference.reynella definately a good side which will make for a very good finals series.on bishop i feel he is slowly adapting and he is coaching better and better every week but still there is a long way to go before the year is out.

I thought you might of been, I was thinking geez I haven't changed that much since last time you saw me play! I would've much rather have been on the ball all day but you have to do what the coach asks of you.
Terrible conditions on Saturday though, it was so hard to try and mark the ball or even kick straight this was obvious with Pollard only kicking one goal but Dave Prescott did a lot better job on him this week and would have felt better after giving up 5 to him last time.
Another big game this week for both clubs, Reynella up against Brighton and M/V against Edwardstown.

DTH

Welcome back

Didn't think you would want to be talking about Saturday footy.

What do you want then Vics01. Full comp or no comp and no carnival. The whole idea of a carnival is a chance to bring every club together and showcase the SFL to many of the kids and parents who may not otherwise know much outside their own childs club. From a personal point of view I would like to see either full competition or full participation footy not a Bastardised mix of both. As I previously said Clubs teach footy to be played over 4 1/4 with some basic plans and structures, this all goes out the window in a game of 2 1/2's Primary school footy is just that school footy. SFL is Club footy, I at no stage had a go at Hackham, that is usually left to you. I did hear that the only issue Hackham had was you snipping cans from the bins.

Crying kids and parents presumably means you are referring to your club after losing the final. My understanding was that Brighton Black won the final by 5 goals so umpiring couldn't have been a factor. I said the first time that BDOS black were most Definitely the best team at the carnival and from what I saw throughout the season they were probably the best drilled side running around. No mention has been made of umpiring which was pretty good by 2 young blokes, and on the day in most instances better standard than what we see some Saturday's. I am not sure why you are getting stuck into Cove over this, maybe it is the chip on the shoulder you carry down the hill about being bridesmaids. Coaches at mini's level are normally dads who put their hand up where others sit back watch and complain, I am sure you have the issues at your club. Letter do tell? (send me a copy)
