I'm sure that in either 2005 or 2006 Milo had kicked over 100 goals and played FF in the GF!

Smithy has played FB in 3 of the 4 flags won by MV and remember Smithy coming out the back half with the ball in hand while Milo was left wondering! I'm not sure what year it was, but both Pollard and Milo had kicked 100 and then in the GF one of them kicked 5-6 and the other only 1!

Someone else maybe able to confirm this!

Gaskin could play, just played at CHB majority of the time! GUN!
i guess if daniel is fit to play and david just lets him run around doing wot eva he wants, then that would be just david showing his true colours.i look forward to seeing david sat night at the club to catch up for a chat,i mean this wouldnt be the first time its happened this year.your words still havnt left my head david,"only a couple of years then il be home".will be a cracker of a game tmrw, the match ups are just astonishing, bring on 2.30 sat arvo.
Begs the question why a bloke would want to go to another club and coach against his own flesh and blood, when the intention all along is to return 'home' to Morphies. Certainly will be some personal satisfaction of being the only coach to win a flag for Reynella in 30 years, but a true Morphett Vale person would never want to see the wineflys win a flag under any circumstances.

Phenomenal effort by the Emu's making 6 in a row, well done boys. Playing group must be congratulated for sticking together and being able to nurse some young kids into their first GF tomorrow. Most competitive two teams in the comp playing for the prize IMO. Go Emus!

A lot of coaches prefer to leave their home club for their first coaching gig and I don't see this any different. David has made an enormous sacrifice though in doing so and hopefully the boys can reward him on Saturday.

It would be a huge upset if Reynella win. If predictions on this site are anything to go by!

Yes, smithy was full back in those years. Milo didnt play in 1 of the gf's through injury if i recall. Gaskin played chb but would always go to milo for any reynella game, freeing up smithy to run up the ground a little more.

Go to another league if that’s the case p32, the circumstances are very different when it comes to M/Vale & Reynella rivalry IMO, not to mention the family involvement!

Could you imagine a Farrier or a Threadgold coaching the Emus? Or their old man coaching against them?

Let's get this clear, David Earl is a multiple premiership player for the Emu's his son is also, he now wants more than anything for his son to play in a losing Grand Final to his son's arch enemy club, I cannot comprehend this mindset..??

It was a surprise to most Morphies people to see him take the role at Reynella, he'd shown some interest in a junior coaching/development role. What would be the motivating factors for going to Reynella?

You cant be serious! Daniel is a big boy and can look after himself. David might be a premiership player at morphies but he also played for Mclarens and cove so should he not coach against them? He got the chance to coach an A grade side in his own right and unfortunately it was reynella! David seems to have done everything right. Ken Sheldons son doesnt play for Carlton, Ken was a carlton premiership player who coached St Kilda. Bomber Thompson, Leigh Matthews so on and so on! Good work David.

Only David knows that, but all I can say is that i'm glad Reynella have him on their side.

Down the Hill wrote:You guys moaning about taking the GF back to Port Noarlunga must be the same guys who get there early enough to get a decent park on the outer wing, bring your BBQ, ciggys and hooch, and be so out of it by 12 noon that you wouldn't even remember any of the main game. Throw in a scuffle with some other clubs supporters, then go home home and kick the dog and belt the missus. Just another day in the life I suppose.

What about the area on the clubroom side of the ground which is the least spectator friendly area of all SFL grounds. And what if it rains. Absolutely nowhere to stay dry and still watch other than the car. I was at Porties last Saturday and it is nothing special with no great atmosphere. Yes, if you can get your car on the outer wing it is a good spot to watch but thats only a small percent of the total crowd. Last year at SA was surely the best crowd ever at a SFL GF, obviously helped by the Cobra faithful who clearly outnumbered the Emu support.

Noarlunga is the best finals venue but not big enough complex to cater for a GF. GF day has outgrown every club ground including Porties. It is a shame that SA is the poorest SANFL venue and somewhere like Glenelg Oval would be so much better but with most of our clubs in the SA area and SFL headquarters also being there makes it hard.

Stop whingeing, turn up, and help make it a fitting GF day.

=D> =D>

Brilliant post DTH!!

To hear players/supporters from our league say they are going to the GSFL gf is a disgrace if you love the GSFL so much then sign your clearance forms and play there!! Get over the fact that the GF is @ South and support our great league that we are involved in.

I loved GF day @ Porties as much as the next guy but the facts remain that crowd numbers are up and crowd violence is way down so we will not be seeing a change anytime soon. The atmosphere on the hill last year was electric!

Going to be a tight match saturday [-o< and the Morphies Machine (unbelievable effort for 6 straight GFs)will be fresher but Reynella have something special about them this year that they have lacked in previous seasons. Milo is one man who could turn the match Reynella's way so ill stick my neck out (and go against any logic) and tip them by 7 pts.

Just hope the umpires put away the whistle and let the game flow, any free's should be hard earned. Does anyone know who is officiating this year?

Absolutely no fault of Reynella's for taking him flyer. Its been said all year by a number of people that he could add whatever it is Reynella have been missing.

Cant help but think about if Cove could have held on to their lead against Reynella. Its a big "if" i know, and not taking anything away from Reynella's great comeback win, but going out in straight sets would have been no improvement from previous years. Now they see themselves in a grand final against a team they matchup well against. Thats footy i guess!

A win here and the perception of Early's coaching ability would multiply. Name his price from there you would think.

I understand his wife still wears red and black to games, only natural a mother would support her kids i suppose.

And Kart Horse, i think you said it well when you used the word "unfortunately"! I cant recall Bomber or Lethal coaching for the arch enemy while their kids played for their 'home' team. There was never any question about Daniel, or whether he can look after himself. I think he will enjoy the open spaces tomorrow and be a valuable player for the Emus.

Are you missing the point Flyer??

A club that throws Plasmas will always throw Plasmas. Are you saying Earl and Bayli$$ went to Reynella for $hit$ and giggles??

I think you might be the one kidding themselves if you think this is the case.

I am tipping MV to win the match.
As long as they stop S Presscot getting his hands on the ball down the stretch in the last QTR, they should be fine.
He was the difference last week vs the Bombers.
I did notice a better resolve from Reynella this year.. Lasts years team would have crumbled when Brighton piled on a few to start the last QTR. So that effort should bridge the gap to M/V's talent... but just not enough.

Which would suggest you aren't involved enough to know anything, how many people other than the people directly involved know exactly what a player is on? It is all speculation but the fact that Moore and Butcher* played 1 year and left would suggest the almighty dollar had a fair bit to do with their "loyalty".

The Peoples voice has been heard. If you are looking for a COLD BEER and some good tucker on grand final day stay around the verandah/grandstand side. The Beers will be put on ice from 6pm tonight just to get them cold and you won't get a better BBQ anywhere else. Good luck to all teams involved and hope everyone has a great day.
