I do get that the offers they get are substancially larger and good on them for staying but it's not like they are on base match payments already

Emu$$$$$ :ymapplause: :ymapplause: good post Asert as I for one am sick of the crap coming out of clubs that say their blokes play for love!!
This year we have had more approaches from clubs than I have seen b4 with clubs calling our kids/knocking on their door unanounced/offers of dinner/and $150 a game to train 1x a week and garantee A grade footy this to kids that have not even played an A grade game! FACT.

We understand the recruiting gig but!!!!
These kids are tight and love the club as most have been here since under 10 and are going nowhere. They will be rewarded in the future with the commitment to each other and the club.

You understand the recruiting gig?????
So why isnt yours working?

I could count on 1 hand the emus have recruited from outside the club in the last 7 years.
Now thats recruiting.

I know who you are spanner and I get what your saying but if your payments aren't that bad when is your agm and is someone game enough to put player payments up on the forum. Like a few
years back spanner we paid 13k for players for the year which I think would be about the ave but port noarlunga paid 36k. It's meant to be local football. Not even just success is an incentive just playing with mates is what football is about not $ signs

SHOE BOY

Offering $250 a game for a couple of South young mid fielders last week, who only played 1/2 dozen league games between them. I can see that is rewarding your young guns coming through.

250 on top of what you are already playing the e/town foriegn legion. spend big this year and go back to the youth policy next year.

I think Sweendog meant $70,000. Either way, I think way over the odds for what the Shoes would have paid. My concern is what has happened to payments in the last couple of years. "Market Rates" have seemingly gone through the roof and its starting to get out of hand. The poor club administrators and volunteers are having to raise big money to pay players let alone the core needs such as footys and medical. I just hope some of the players start realising this, otherwise they won't have a club or a league to play in.

The problem is that with the majority if not all of the country leagues adopting the Points cap they are limited to recruiting say 4 or 5 players from outside. Which means if you have $20k to spend on new recruits, instead of going out and spending $150 and recruiting 7 players, they are now offering $275 and recruiting 4 players or $550 and recruiting 2 players. Those clubs who have a bigger budget are offering $1000 a game to two or three players who are obviously the better players at other clubs. If they get turned down by those players they then look at who's next on their list and might offer $750. I just don't know how these clubs will survive in 3-5 years time if all these new recruits stay, or are they relying on a natural attrition rate?
I agree it's getting out of hand.

I'd hardly think you are the one to confirm anything factual about Noarlunga $B.

FACT: All this year you have stated a return to youth policy, one year and a SLIGHTLY less than expected result and it's back to the old ways.

I wonder who will be this generations Clifton, Lee and Tassone...

By the way, need we remind you that all the money spent last time only BOUGHT you 1 flag from 4 cracks?

I know what I have seen with my own eyes over the years. Point is that the majority of your better players in the last ten years have been imports, tell me I'm wrong?

Simple fact is when the going gets tough Noarlunga pull out the chequebook. If true that Golding has signed how would he possibly fit into your "youth" policy considering you have a similar styled player in Comer already in the side?

Is Patience a dirty word at Old Noarlunga?

Hence the direction the club has taken over the past 3 years!

If Golding was avalaible any club would look at him. "How does he fit fit in" simple with his experience that he can offload to one of the youngest list in the SFL will be invaluable. You cant expect young lads to carry the load they need support and they will get it.
Remember this is a very healthy club heading forward and upward. :)

I agree the club is headed in the right direction but don't pretend to be something it's not. You have a go at clubs saying it is club loyalty and love of a game with mates that is keeping them there and then say that is exactly what your juniors are doing as if its a new thing?

Our last Premiership side had 1 player that had not played juniors at the club. Clubs that focus on improving juniors over recruiting players will have longer periods of success than clubs who actively recruit as a priority, unless you're prepared to spend a lot of money.

At the minute your club is yet to prove it is committed to this youth policy, despite what you say.

Just loving this fantastic discussion.

Come on Shoe boy....you verses the whole Forum and so far you are just in front.
Need a killer blow to win the debate.....perhaps get into P32.
Old man emu seems a good target.....or deflect it against Reynella...their outstanding September form since 1977.
