That would be a big loss to Porties that is for sure. Any truth I am hearing to the rumour young McGregor from Glenelg is playing at Flaggies in 2010 and not the Creeks as some had predicted. Why wouldn't ya if what I have heard is true $$$$. Not pointing any sharp objects just saying what I have heard. Takes a fair effort to compete with Langhornes when they decide they want someone.

What type of player is he? Presumably not a forward as Kingston already have their fair quota of those.

At Flaggies we've been working our butts off trying to recruit, but the money that is being offerred in the hills and country leagues to these guys is way out of our means.
It's really heart breaking to lose an existing player from our club cos he's being offerred what is really a weeks wages to him to play football, and not be able to getting close to matching it.
I've read what some other "big" clubs say about holding their juniors thru success and mateship and it's true for a while. But when he's stuck around all through juniors to a few years of seniors without finals success it was too hard.

Funny ruling was noticed at the SFL Clearances Meeting tonight:
A player transferring to the club his father is a Life Member of, is counted as a base point player.

What is with this rule?
Example J Selfe has come back on board after playing away for 5 years but played all his junior footy at the Shoe and senior b4 moving away and am told is a point player. His farther is a life member also and am sure all farthers that achive life membership would have their son playing junior footy for the club? So is this a double dip or am I missing something?

It's a Community Football Board rule. Would think the potential for abuse would far outweigh the couple of situations where it would actually be a good ruling.
