I agree - It is all becoming a bit too much of a raffle with the weather etc.
Perhaps it's a good reason to get rid of the bonus points in the second innings. I think you would have a lot more people playing cricket if it meant second innings were only played when there was a chance of an outright result...
Playing for 15-overs at the end of the day for a chance of .03 points is a waste of time. I would prefer to watch the B-grade with a stubby in my hand!

I know its common sense but,
Do you think Rick should have put a message on the web site about the games this weekend?
I mean I guess that they will be a one dayer and that they will start at 12.00pm.
After being brought up to date a little bit last year seems we are going backwards

With finals approaching who do you think will be playing off in the GF in A1,2,& 3?
A1 Pultney V Woody Rech
A2 Payneham V Goodies
A3 Brighton V Kilburn
Also heard that Reynella have been told they will be entering into ATCA in A2 next season, interesting if true. With Rick running his tight ship anything is possible.

I reckon that will be a pretty tough gig for Reynella. Good luck to them though. Their wicket down there will be a bit dodgy for a couple of seasons until it has had time to settle down and properly bind. Could be an advantage for them.
I imagine they will only have hard wickets to train on still. I know this would be an issue faced by other clubs but does anyone know what sort of percentage of clubs have Turf training facilities? Can't imagine there would be too many clubs that have to train solely on hard wickets.

Less than 50% of ATCA clubs have turf nets, some us centre wicket training to have a hit on turf during the week

That surprises me actually. Having played in the ATCA for many years i was under the impression that a majority of clubs had Turf training facilities. Can't be easy training on hard wickets then rocking up to slow low decks on the weekends. Hats off to the clubs that do it successfully.

Just off the top of my head ive listed who does and doesn't have turf training facilities. I wasn't sure of some. If you know please modify the list.
Not surprising that most of the premier grade sides do have turf but once you get to A3 the majority don't. Those clubs in premier grade who only have hard wickets are doing one hell of a job to stay so competitive given the inferior training facilities.

Why don't Penfield have a side in the A Grade comp?
Penfield is now Penfield/Elizabeth
A bit of a long story but in short; PenfieldCC had some issues with the Penfield sports club which resulted in the club moving to Elizabeth ground. This move also happened at a time with a number of players retiring. At this time the clubs highest team was in C1 or C3 (i think)
The positives,
The old ground will one day be swallowed up by all the development out there.
Have moved to a huge growth area with no other turf clubs close by
good facilities including large club rooms, turf practice decks 2 ovals at one place.
The club is rebuilding and has a number of junior teams playing in Para Districts and the A grade currently sitting 2nd in B3.
Still lots of work to be done but is a fun place to play cricket and lots of kids coming through, and we all know no matter where you are now if you don't have kids you are going to struggle in the future.

Watson more runs for Concordia in A2
Did Walkies have the 'pitch vandal' do some work for them again? What was the score at the end of week one?
Watson failed didn't he, only 62. Did hear he contacted about 6 clubs last year and only a few got back to him. Have heard he is getting around 2k and knocked back 10k from Grange to play only at the start of last season.
I think they 'forgot' to turn the sprinklers off in the middle of a thunderstorm! Score in week 1 were walkies bowled out for 160 odd, shoc 1 for 65.
Should be interesting to see what the ATCA committee do seeing every other game got on and they didnt even prepare a pitch!
RRR who do you play for?
And F*&k Watson, the red head git, but ihevsnt the biggest red git in Concordia, is he Shitty (i mean scmiddty)
Schmitty ... Gee i shudder at that name did he play for Flinders uni for a while not long back?

Glad to see Pooraka has ?? turf nets for Premier and no for A3 - well I can tell you going back 2 years ago they were definately training on Turf (well at least on the Thursday night's when I used to turn up) - one net for the A Graders, 1 for the B's and better C grade and then 1 for the D Grade and left over C Graders basically is how it worked (yes they had 3 turf nets)
