If he wasn't retiring would he have been selected this week?

If fit, then IMO, yes.

Random player time. Farren Ray. Certainly not a gun footballer, rarely touches the ball 20 times playing on the wing, will knock up 200 next year. And he is shocking (for the afl standard)

He has AVERAGED more than 20 disposals this year, 10/15 games, and more than 19 five times in his career.

No doubt he is average but at least get your facts right!

Yep. But you said rarely gets it 20 times and he has done that in 66% of his games this year.

Anyway. I'm nitpicking now, he is certainly very average!

Shocking? Na.

Has been 'servicable' during this time at St Kilda, although has struggled this year (he has a few mates). Played all 25 games in each of 2009 and 2010.

StKFC- 58 years..

33.33% of his total games were premierships, surely a record? :-s

A terrific career.

Retirements - 2014

Post by bennymacca »

Probably up there in the top few if we are talking all time greatest ruckman.

Changed how modern rucks are perceived with how he covered the ground and became a link man with his skills. No other ruckmen in this era had the ability to gather possessions and hurt you with them like he did.
