Not sure a final 8 can be worked that way unless you only have a 2nd chance in week 1 of the finals.
Is that becasue you finished top and dont want to play the Swans in a prelim if they get there.

Of course
I've never liked the current final eight system that doesn't allow a direct birth to the GF like the SANFL system allows.

I don't mind it, mainly because the fixture is so lopsided at times it isn't a true reflection on who is the best team for the season.
I do think that this season has been accurate at the top end, Adelaide, GWS and Geelong all had difficult draws and still remained strong.

I just like the concept of qualifying for the GF, and that team seeing who wins the (one) prelim the week after. I suppose growing up with the SANFL model I am used to it.

Perfectly equitable draw, longer finals series, I think it wins on all fronts imo.
Having 22 games and 18 teams is ridiculous
It's not equitable. There will still be teams travelling with no return fixture ie Crows get Collingwood at home and not in Melbourne as they only play once.
The current system allows this to happen on occasion too, but it is not guaranteed year in year out.

you would swap each year - so the team that got the home game one year would get the away game next year.
in terms of the second round of games, as there is 7 games, the top four would get an extra home game
I was hoping it may have stayed dry and that we try to outrun the Swans and just try to make it a shootout. Rather lose by 15 goals by trying to score than lose how we did last week.
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

Reckon you're right mate .. Still think Swans get up, but Cats have to show a response and think they will, so it's no certainty
If we're up at qtr time we're a chance but our first qtr record against this mob is horrendous.
- Unbelievably Sydney will yet again get the jump on the Cats - Buddy to have minimal impact - Dangerfield will be a lone star - Swans to march into Adelaide - Attendance 62,544
