I think he did the job when asked but complained afterwards. He wasn’t asked to do it often and at the end of year meeting he outlined that he wanted to not play the lockdown role at all which is why we initially baulked at price. Carlton were smart and got wind and the rest is history

Not a free agent, he is just uncontracted which means he has to be traded for.
Won’t be pick 7 IMO, I think you will send pick 7 to someone like Geelong for a couple of picks in the teens and then flip one of those to us. Worth a pick in the teens IMO

He’s not worth a first round pick

6 Player managers on SEN this morning and all said that pick 7 from Carlton is on the money this year. I don’t think we will get it but will definitely get a pick in the teens

Daniher nominates Brisbane so hopefully we can trigger Band 1 for him.
Pick 6,7 plus whatever we get for Saad is a good foundation for a rebuild but still need to cut the list deeper

Free Agency isn't for someone who has only been at a club for 3 years.

That is what I was listening too

Dodododo will ask for cripps the next 10 1st rounders and Walsh for Saad

Pick 15ish is fair imo

It’s (key forward) the one piece of the puzzle they need to be premiers IMO, said that for a couple of years.

Am I right in saying Exitdon could have had picks 5 and 9 for Daniher last year and may, if things go well, get pick 7 for him this year?
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

They are 1 win away from a flag now.
If he is fit and firing then his big contract will be worth every cent. Hopefully he can stay fit as he is good to watch

I think only the three clubs know if that was on offer. I think there was a bit of bluff between all 3 sides. Pick 9 was dependant on Carlton handing that over for Papley first. Were the Swans willing to let Papley go and Carlton seemed adamant at the time they wouldn’t give up pick 9 for him so who knows. The club thought they could change Joe’s mind in a year but a season living in QLD probably strengthened his resolve to leave Victoria. Brisbane’s ladder position helps aswell

Sounds very similar to Jared Polec. Doesn't want accountability for a direct opponent.
Not what I'd call a team player!

True but Hipwood will need to play out of his skin for them to win

Daniher I would imagine would be on far less money at Brisbane

No surprise they'll both be at their third club then, is it?

Who’d be a better pickup, Saad pick 7 or Papley pick 5?

Both too high value IMO

Joe will be on $700k+ x 4-5 years IMO.

Depends on the team needs. A players worth is vastly different to different teams. I think this years draft is scaring a lot of recruiters. Plenty of talent probably but a lot of unknowns especially with the Vic kids

I’m not sure that’s a “big contract” anymore, not too far off average

Three years ago everyone was leaving Brisbane, now playing finals and players want to go there. Things can turn around quickly

Things turn around very quickly when the AFL intervenes. They couldn’t afford to have Brisbane struggling.
I guess it depends on whether Brisbane want to pick Joe up as a FA or trade for him as that will determine his wage. They might be willing to pay him $1m a year to get him for nothing

5 years @ $700k simply cannot be average, it's a big contract offer in anyone's terms.
