Re: PAFC 2026
Imagine spending $1m plus on your recruiting department and traveling around Australia watching footy 24/7 365 days a year and then not take a pick in the draft….
Easy money if u can get it. Well played Parker and the recruiting team.
Positives: port would rather draft nobody than draft Jez McLennan.

And that is an OK strategy, but you are still 2 years away from fulfilling this, then you understandably need to give these kids 2-3 years to find their feet, which is a large risk imo when you ignore home grown talent.Booney wrote:Exactly why we've loaded up in the next 2 drafts, NGA and Father Sons coming that we need to match.whufc wrote: On the slide with a Tassies team coming shortly and compromised drafts.

Re: PAFC 2026
Totally agree, they were top 4 last year, only lost Houston. Not sure enough has been made of how bad they were this year. Players got off very lightly.Armchair expert wrote:Are Port really on the slide?
They are still pretty young overall, maybe they don't have the elite rookie talent but I cant see them finishing bottom 4.
They are primed for a Wild Card game imo
The hard draw that comes with finishing top 6 also a factor in their slide.
This years draw, significantly easier, should go 13-10 or 14-9 if they can beat the Crows once. Thats just by being a good average side. My mother has been a Port member from day dot, seriously considering not getting her season ticket this year because of the terrible games at home this year. There is slim pickings as far as good teams coming here.

Agree with this point. Even grabing 1 or 2 of the SA lads would be good get as there was so much good SA talent there this year.Dutchy wrote:And that is an OK strategy, but you are still 2 years away from fulfilling this, then you understandably need to give these kids 2-3 years to find their feet, which is a large risk imo when you ignore home grown talent.Booney wrote:Exactly why we've loaded up in the next 2 drafts, NGA and Father Sons coming that we need to match.whufc wrote: On the slide with a Tassies team coming shortly and compromised drafts.

Re: PAFC 2026
I'm in the minority but I'd much rathar draft interstate kids. Much easier to trade for ex locals than players that are from interstate originally.stan wrote:Agree with this point. Re: PAFC 2026
The SA lads part of a strategy by Hawks to get Butters?
Plus the 2 2nd round picks we traded down for on draft night all point to a play for Butters

Whilst u make a good point dutchy my brother. Happy clapping dicknuts don’t think that way unless it involves the 17 other clubs.Dutchy wrote:And that is an OK strategy, but you are still 2 years away from fulfilling this, then you understandably need to give these kids 2-3 years to find their feet, which is a large risk imo when you ignore home grown talent.Booney wrote:Exactly why we've loaded up in the next 2 drafts, NGA and Father Sons coming that we need to match.whufc wrote: On the slide with a Tassies team coming shortly and compromised drafts.

Re: PAFC 2026
Again, we'd already invested our first rounder in Lukosius so we didn't have the capital to spend this year, the only way to do that would be sell next years farm or trade out quality that we can't spare to lose. We've been saying all year we're not in this draft yet here we are people still being surprised by it.stan wrote:Agree with this point. Re: PAFC 2026
Certainly will. Would have been pick 6 on ladder position and ended up pick 11 with compensation and academy picks.Dutchy wrote:That Lukosius trade is going to be an interesting watch over the next few years.

Might not have finished 15th if we had Houston etc etc etc so moot point really.wenchbarwer wrote:Could have had Farrow or Sharp, for startersBooney wrote:Certainly will. Don't worry, we'll stuff up Sharp's development (if there is any) and you can get him for a bag of chips in 2027
