Both these clubs are in the box seat in terms of a trade. Dogs have made it clear they want him out and that makes there position weaker.

What would Essendon be likely to give up for him?

Pick 11 and either a later pick coming back or a swap of later picks I think

I'm sure you'll change your tune when he kicks 8 sitting in a pocket after a narrow victory at Kardinia.

They will use him perfectly, wont need him in the midfield with the calibre of their on-ball brigade.

11 for Stringer plus 26 is around the mark

Depending on the price we pay.
But i dont. He sold out. He can **** off.

Yeah I have gone off the idea of getting him. If we don't win a flag in next two years, we are going to be awfully shite for quite a few years I reckon and I don't think we're good enough to win one anyway. Need to look at the long term future

Understand clubs eeking out a successful era as far as they can, but the Cats (and moreso Stephen Wells) were lauded and envied for their draft work, so I'd be getting back into that ASAP. Their trading has been relatively good with the likes of PD, Henderson, Tuohy but it also includes Smith and Stanley who look like they always be world beaters once a month, then crap for the other 3 weeks. Unless they are absolutely certain Ablett can get through a season, I'd be choosing the draft route.

There's no doubt they still think they can win one while Taylor (32 next year), Hawkins and Selwood (both 30 next year) are still there.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Experienced All-Australian 23yr old that many/most believe could consistently be a 40-50 goal per season player for 7 years is worth that I think (unless the first round of the draft is "superdraft" material).

Bombers forward line of Daniher, Stewart, Hooker, Fantasia, Stringer, Tip looks pretty exciting.

Jim where is Aaron Francis at? Few things I've read and heard made it sound as though the Bombers are almost losing patience with his (lack of) commitment to improving his fitness to the required levels. Wonder if the Crows would try and work him into a 3-way deal if Lever goes?

Yep and that could be right, but if Taylor drops even a little next year (which at his age isn't an unreasonable thought), Hawkins doesn't deliver enough again, and Selwoods banged up body catches up with him, they'll just be lengthening the eventual rebuild process.

Francis had a pretty good season at VFL level and his tank and fitness towards the end of the season got to somewhere where it needs to be. He turned up to pre season in not great shape and has been put on notice that he needs to come back in far better shape. I believe he left the exit meeting in a positive frame of mind and vowed to return in top shape. The club internally rate him very highly and want him in for round 1 so I can't see us moving him on just yet

Hawkins has played a different role this year and has been serviceable despite having matches where he doesn't impact the scoreboard.
Age will catch up with some of these boys... as we saw with Mackie - he just got caught too many times this year.

They would want Stringer to kick 8 as their defence will have more holes than Swiss cheese if they don’t get some sort of backmen in

Us, Geelong or both?
Cats seem to be doing their offseason strange, lose Lonergan and Mackie out of defense and have Harry on his last legs and want to bring in Stringer, Ablett and Smith who don't have a defensive bone in their bodies.

Can't remember where I heard it (probably SEN or OTC), but consensus seemed to be Charlie Cameron will be at Brisbane next year for either a late 1st Round or early 2nd round pick. Whilst the lad obviously has some potential, wouldn't have thought that the worst trade for the Crows to bolster other areas not as strong as their attack?

Agreed, Friday night aside he's dispensable.

Bum Crack (not mine ;) ) has been saying this since about May. Still has 1 year left on a contract. Does surprise me as he seems so close to Eddie

Yeah I knew the whispers of the move had been out a long time, was more referring to the projected compensation as being decent

Onto more important things, Cats excelling at Wacky Wednesday again, the real premiership.
