Should be 5 but we've already seen the conditioning from the AFL that this is only going to be 3 so he can play the grand final.

He didn't self report
Self reporting has to be on the same day initiated by the player
There was contact made between the two clubson Sunday that forced them to report it
The AFL are going to get absolutely roasted if anything less than 5 games

So; yes they will give 3.

I'm fine with 4.
Let the crows drop the qualifying final if they desperately want him to play the GF.

Precedent says he has to get 5+, but I'm a big believer that you can set a new precent if the old precent was wrong.
Getting 5 games for using words is massive overs when you compare it to actions like Liam Baker thumping Peatling in the back of the head while he was face down on the ground and defenceless, yet Liam is being cleared to play the next week.

Jack Graham fessed up a week after saying it but your point remains it wasn't Rankine who came forward.

Surely having to write 500 lines is enough, I had to write enough of them as a kid.

"I must not call people names on the football field"

Remember playing against the college sides.
That was one of the better names we called them.

But the world has changed for the better!

My issue with more than 3 is that it says that this is worse than the hit the Connor Nash did to Gyran Miers. I don’t think it is

It can’t be done this time but I’d like it to be a two week ban plus a $25,000 fine donated to a charity that helps the group of people they have vilified.

I was being facetious on the spelling...

Nothing in it, Tex should get a bonus for pushing Maynard

Money is no object to these blokes and fines mean nothing to them even if it was $25,000. Rankine is probably on $800-900k, a monthly pay would be $50k plus.

The punishment doesn’t fit the crime here
He needs to be penalised but missing finals is a massive penalty

Agree - I use to respond "I'll see you in the showers after the game ;) "

I won’t lose sleep over it but we can’t just go from nothing to heavy to even heavier penalties
Surely some form of education(yes I know they get plenty already) is more appropriate than just suspending them

Words are only offensive if you chose to take offence.
Being punched in the back of the head while face down on the ground is always dangerous.

5 weeks vs free to play.
