What i think will be interesting this year is whether or not Craig changes his attitude/philosophy re trading (and whether or not theres been any pressure on him from the AFC to do so). They really need to make some tough decisions on delistings and in particular trading, i'll be watching their off season moves with particular interest.

Hindsight is a funny thing. The way Ben Hart is playing right now he would be the first picked in almost any AFL finals side. He is a star.

Im surprised noone has questioned the selection of Ricciutio ... Yes, I know hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I was one who picked the Crows to miss the 8 this year and whilst obviously not being correct, they only squeezed in by half a game or so and I'm inclined to agree with an earlier post of REB's about the backbone being at the end of their careers.

Excluding that group, in the onball department that leaves Van Berlo (who at this point in time is a pop gun), Shirley (lacking in required ability), Thompson (classy and gets plenty of it but burns plenty of it), Hudson (real goer who I like, but no Lade, Mcintosh or Cox), Doughty (very very average player), Reilly (receiver without genuine leg speed, will never be more than a useful type) ... Not sure if I've missed anyone but Im sure if I have they won't come near the quality of any of the rotated members of a WC, Geelong, Port, Hawthorn and several other clubs ... This is the area that stands out like a sore thumb at West Lakes, they just have so many "workman" like players who will only ever get you so far, and very few with the desired natural ability.

Hentschel and Biglands will be welcome returns, but I dont think you can rely on them reaching previous levels next year, same with Bassett.

I really think they need a change of policy at West Lakes and try to stop developing robotic plans and players and get some players with legitimate football skills.

Cows problem is they persist is keeping older stars and don't really blood the younger players. Port at least gave almost all their youngsters a try this season. The decision to play Riccutoo instead of Dougie was a bad one, but thanks anyway mumbles. aND CHEERS hAWKS, saved me from hearing the talk up on how great the cows are all week at work.

mate your the one having a pull

who on this site predicted adelaide as top 2

Yes i am having a pull cos my side is still alive. Very little chance of doing serious damage but at least i realise that. Shame the Cows fans who kept banging on about how much they were going to flog Hawthorn by and how they had a prelim final date with Port didn't realise that the only thing stopping them is that they are not very good.

I frely admit I was one of those - a bit more bravado than sense in that statement but hey allgood fun..

Well done Hawthorn clearly the better team for four qtrs of footy.

For the record I thought Adelaide would finish outside the top four this year (cant be arsed finding it though) I also thought Port would finish out the eight though......
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The crows need a clean out, at least 8 players have to be given their marching orders. I would get rid of 12 players. Craig will only get rid of the maximum required, because he is "proud of this playing group"
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

I can't believe people are bringing up the Hart issue again, how many games has he played for North's this year, he was injured for the first half of this year, he would of had no impact on the AFC season, lets remember No other club wanted him

I also wish that people would start dealing with Facts rather than MYTHS

Last year only 6 clubs traded, Pies, Freo, Swans, Saints, Richmondand WB, isn't it remarkable only one of those clubs are still in the finals race

That means 10 clubs chose not to trade for one reason or another, Adelaide is one of those clubs, however Craigy is the only name mentioned for not trading

Craigy, has openly said that he does not like the trade period, this is more due to the process, however, he has also gone on record and said he would trade if all parties benefittedvfrom the trade, especially the players.

So many members of this forum place so much importance on the trade period, let's be honest, most times you are trading a like for like type of player, Freo was the big mover in 2006 trade period, so many jump on the Freo Wagon and predicted success, where did they finish

People start dealing with Facts not Myths, no club has yet enabled success through TRADES

Cats, Kanga's, Eagles, Power and Hawks all did not trade last year and all remain in contension for the flag, while historically, Essendon, Carlton and Richmond are serial traders and can't get out of the bottom 4

So many critics in Hindsight

Yes Roo was not right to go, however Judd was not right to go and Hall was not right to go

The Hawks to a massive gamble on Bateman, these decisions can be such a fine line, however the crows still had their chances to win the game, it was a bloody great game of footy

lets look at the 2006 trades

St Kilda - Bris
Tigers - Polak
Freo - Tarrant and Solomon
Pies - Medhurst
WB - Aka and McDougall
Syd - Spider

how many of these players have had close to career best years or will finish top 10 in their clubs B&F, maybe Polak, only because the lack of depth at Tigerland

Trading or non trading is the cause of Adelaide's list issues

I think most are critical of Adelaide feeling the playing group is the right one to take ot forward, when the last three Septembers have shown it clearly is not.

every year their will be 15 clubs with a list not capable of taking them further

like I said earlier, I believe in recent years Adelaide have been punching above their weight, making two prelim finals with a list that is not a top 4 list,

we all agree the crows have gaps in their list like all other clubs, however you can't close these gaps in one draft or one trade period, especially if your not getting early picks, it takes time

Kenny is worth trade consideration, however both clubs and players need to benefit

Richmond and WB are believed to be interested, would the Tigers be prepared to offer young Edwards or Hughes, or would the WB consider one of their quality runners like Griffen, Ray, Hahn or McMahon

definitely a fair call

however, lets keep in mind, it took the Cats a few years to build their list, the Cats had the luxury of some pretty good early draft choices and father son choices

my main concern with Adelaide's recruiting, has been the failure to identify a long term key position player, Angwin, Watts and Meesen have all failed for one reason or another, Sellar needs a huge pre-season next year or he too will be in danger
