Wrapping a car around a tree or stobie pole, no safety features is going to save you in that circumstances. Certainly keep (and improve) the safety features, but perhaps less promoting of the safety features or a campaign that emphasises that safety features can't always protect the occupants of a car. As they say the most important safety component of a car, is the nut (idiot) holding the steering wheel.
I'm more worried about other features.
From what I've read, if you have the right gear it may be possible to hook something like an iPad into your Satnav display and watch a movie - or the footy - while you drive.
I find that prospect rather terrifying...

Its been said that listening to the radio or CD can be a distraction that can contribute to an accident.

Look at what one UK opponent of plans to allow higher sped limits there admitted: http://news.carrentals.co.uk/uk-governm ... 49346.html
One safety campaigner said that it is not really the fact that people cannot handle a speed limit of 80mph, because they can.
They simply cannot do it while they are in the middle of trying to eat, talk on the phone, and mess with the radio
.
People already spent little time focusing on the road, and increasing the speed limit is going to get more people hurt.

it's simple, if you aren't completely focused on what you are doing (driving), you increase the chance of an accident. By going faster, your reaction times are drastically reduced. Banning mobile phone use in the car is just one small step, why not ban things that are FAR more dangerous, such as smoking or eating & drinking? or animals? How often do you see some wanker driving along with a pet dog on their lap? or on the rear parcel shelf?

The death of Allan Simonsen tonight at the Le Mans 24 hour race. Had the pleasure of seeing him racing a few times at the Clipsal 500, rated him highly. Everyone knows the dangers of motorsport but it doesn't make these type of things any easier :(

My father passing away on Thursday.

My brother, sister and I sat there for 50+ hours watching him slip away, we decided to leave the room for an hour and he passed within minutes.

Shit mate, I'm sorry for your loss.
Politicians kissing babies for good luck,
TV preachers sell salvation for a buck.
You don't need no golden cross to tell you wrong from right,
The world's worst murderers were those who saw the light.

That's understandable mate, but on the bright side, at least your old man isn't suffering any more.

Yeah I suppose, he was fine and chirpy on Monday evening and had a bad turn overnight and began to deteriorate from then on.

Genuinely sorry to hear that mate. :(
Often happens that people pass when others vacate the room as they become more relaxed.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Cheers, I've heard that a few times since it occurred.
