MELBOURNE'S General Manager of Football Performance, Alan Richardson, has provided an update on Christian Petracca's condition following an injury during Melbourne’s King’s Birthday clash with Collingwood on Monday.

“Christian is in good spirits and making positive strides in his recovery,” Richardson said.

Petracca suffered the injury in a marking contest at the end of the first quarter, which resulted in four broken ribs and a lacerated spleen.

Richardson said that Petracca is going ok and receiving the best care possible.

“Christian is expected to be moved out of the ICU and into a general ward by tomorrow morning, and discharged from hospital in the coming days,” Richardson said.

Whilst there has been plenty of discussion surrounding the nature of Petracca's injury and the steps taken in his treatment, Richardson reassured fans and members of the club's confidence in the medical team's response and the processes they followed.

"I want to make it clear that we have full confidence in how our medical team responded and the procedures they followed. Their expertise and swift actions have been crucial in managing Christian’s injury and subsequent recovery," he said.

He's in ICU two days after surgery and 4 days after the injury yet you're confident the medical team handled the situation well?
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

If the doc couldn't diagnose 4 broken ribs just by touch he's woefully incompetent in my opinion.
And to top it off, if he was needled then the doc should be struck off.
