At $695 each (on special), what sort of cash discount should we be reaching for for one cash purchase of all three?

They are shit, they wouldn't even knock $100 off a fridge I was trying purchase for work, I said "mate, you should just be called the Guys"

You're better off going to JB, more range and better prices, and you can still haggle a bit.

I wanted a laptop, the one I wanted the only stock they had was the demo model. Wouldn’t discount that at all, he said ‘someone else will buy it if you don’t’. Won’t go back there ever again

Im no good with all this stuff, but have you price shopped online?

The telly I'm looking at is the samsung 50 inch for $695 - It was first advertised at Harvey Norman (who I refuse to buy from)

So I then looked straight onto Good Guys and saw that they've price matched the same telly online.

JB's don't even appear to sell it. **edit** oops, yes they do.

So you reckon we've got more chance of haggling with JB's than we do with Good Guys?

Can always try haggling at both? But perhaps the 1st stop may just cave under the pressure

Trying to choose a holiday destination out of Surfers, Hamilton Island and Port Douglas, looking at March.

What is there to do at Port Douglas, what are the attractions there?

Good base to go up into the table lands, up to the Daintree, day out on the reef, some nice pubs in Port Douglas to spend a day in.

The fun police is leaning that way, I don't like the high humidity and March is probably the worse time of year for that up there.

I like the flexibility of Surfers as Byron Bay is less than 90 minutes away plus many more attractions.

I've spent a week at Hamilton, several weeks at Surfers and only one day at Port Douglas but I'd definately do Port Douglas again out of those in a heartbeat. There's plenty of daytrips and drives to go on and as Booney mentioned a good array of pubs. I could spend many a day at the craft beer pub on the Marina, magnificent spot. The missus and I are dead keen to get up there again.
Hamilton Island was great in the early 90s , had one of the times of my life there but was up in the Whitsundays earlier in the year and the area has aged horribly.
Surfers has well and truly run its race as a holiday destination, would much prefer the Sunshine Coast but thats going the same was as Surfers did and will be ruined eventually. Obviously young kids love the theme parks and the last time we were there was for the kids but even then found it a much better idea to base ourselves in Brisbane so you ould do both coasts and driving againstthe traffic for day trips,
I hate humidity but could survive waslking around Port Douglas in January. After visiting Thailand several times Port Douglas's climate seemed very bearable.

Just got back from the Cairns/Pt Douglas area last week

Based ourselves in Cairns but only an hour to Port Douglas on a fairly spectacular stretch of road. Another hour and your in the world heritage rainforest. Reef tours leave from either destination.

Surprise of the trip was a guided walking tour in the Mossman Gorge. 90 minutes of fascinating points on how to use the rainforest to survive by an aboriginal. Including respecting the spirits with smoking ceremony and a didgeridoo demonstration at the end.

I think I might have to take a hit on this one, we were planning on two trips, one with the kids, one without.

I'd imagine the kids would just go to the theme parks every day so we'd just do our own thing, they'll be 17,16 and almost 15 anyway so we'd just have them occupy one unit, we'll give the older ones the option to save though if they wanted to join us.

We both think that Surfers is pretty horrible as far as rubbish in the streets etc. but we found a few little gems while we were up there last that we'd like to frequent again, we loved the Rooftop bar, it had an excellent carnival atmosphere, that was until a blonde Swedish chick was hitting on me in front of the missus and I was too stupid to pick up on it, I was pretty happy walking back to our room, if there were odds on who was gonna get hit on out of the two of us she'd be $1.01 and I'd be paying $23+.

As I type, she's emailed me some places in Cairns to check out, sheesh!!

Have a look at Palm Cove too. In between Cairns & Pt Douglas. We loved it there. Went in April and weather was lovely. Hire a car and you can go anywhere you want anyway.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep

No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Missus booked it on Air BnB and it was around $120.00 a night. Not the flashest place to stay but it was still nice. Only a 5 minute to walk to all the pubs and very nice restaurants very close by

There is also the public bus from Palm Cove to Cairns. Handy.

Yeah Cairns is a one night only type of place to stay, Palm Cove is magnificent but pricey, March will be very sticky but you will probably get good deals on accommodation being outside peak/school holidays.

Wait what!?!? That’s ridiculous. That can’t be true. We aren’t in primary school.

So let me get this straight. Someone was “trolling” someone and they got a negative response and than banned said person for biting against said “troll”? Nah that can’t be it. Surely he’s just taking a break or something. Pretty childish
