Cobby gone as well now, shut the door on the independents for the year.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

time for rfl to can all senior footy this year and concentrate on getting the junior comp going.
junior footy runs on the smell of an oily rag so crowds not an issue.
play u9 thru to u18 on saturdays and get the community out watching their future stars.

Have heard a lot of the senior players are moving back to play in Adelaide in season 2020 as they don't see the point of playing without all teams in the comp. Considering amateur league is only 4 weeks away from a restart I think it would be reasonable for some to explore this and start training with their club of choice.

If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Thought Curran was working in the hospital up there?

Yep great news for the juniors. Shame they gave up on senior footy so early. SGFL to their credit changed their decision makes Riverland leadership along with many others mind you look as though they took the easy option. With 12 other leagues going ahead this clearly proves it can be done with right attitude and people on board. Its just sad for those clubs who were willing to put in the effort to return to play. I think one of the two riverland senior leagues at least should have made the effort to play so locals had something to do but it is what it is.

Great decision the seniors aren't playing.

Spot on!

Also from what I seen all clubs were training right up to the announcement & committed to playing. Good old Riverland whispers at their finest I see haha

The Return of the Mighty Cobdogla fc will be in presence next year. The basket case they have been will been gone. Dillo has made some fairly decent signings ready to go next yr with ex Berri premier ship star in Martin Barber and former barmera ruckman Jake Gilgen the headline acts.

I see Lyrup has decided to call it quits in the Independant comp. Very sad day for such a proud club with well over 100 years worth of history.
Sounds like it was due to low numbers of players and volunteers hopefully the rest of the clubs can battle on after a year off with comp now down to 7 teams.

Any chance of them returning? East Murray have never been able to get back out on the park. BSR were able to get back after a year off.

Doubt it. Won't be long before the whole league folds or they are forced to join the Riverland B Grade comp I reckon. It's a bit of a shame but that's just the way footy is going these days. Getting harder and harder to find enough players to field a team in these small communities. Browns Well are really struggling to field a team too I believe.

Well after the year off last year great to see senior footy back in the riverland. As far as any premiership predictions go im not too sure just yet but im thinking renmark and waikerie will be very strong in the premier comp with Wunkar and sedan cambrai to be among the top teams in independants. Looking forward to the return of community sport to the area in what should be a very interesting year.

The Loxton boys were certainly up and about after beating Renmark Saturday. First time in quite sometime they have beaten them.
