gadj1976 wrote:My poison of choice in general was Pale Ale, end of story (beer wise).

Recently I've lost about 10kgs and now I have a massive appreciation for Pilsners and some more "Malty" beers. I think I'm maybe finding my senses again. Both of which I'd ridiculed or been completely against in more recent years. Not that I'm against the Pales of course!

The pilsners are good because they don't give me hangovers.

So now my standard drink is either Peroni Leggera or Peroni Nastro Azzuro.

During a recent trip in Melbourne I drank Crown Golden Ale. Crownies are good, in moderation. Because I want to be able to have a run or bike ride the day after, I find that the Peroni Leggera are good for the night-before.

Recently someone also told me about Jim Beam and Coke Zero too. So when I'm in a bourbon mood, I go after them too. No hangover, no weight gain. GOOD!

Gone off Peroni, now I'm drinking Mild Ale's as my drink of preference. I can have a night on them and still feel ok the next day.

Probably a rarity on here but a non-drinker. Give me a Farmers' Union Iced Coffee any day!

In my day, though, my poison was usually VB.
For spirits, Scotch and Coke.
Also, used to love giving bartenders a hard time by ordering a Rainbow Tropical.

Cheers

Although I prefer the taste of the strong, my guts has made me move to the 1%er, I don't mind them and I feel healthier for the big switch.

I love these ones.

The artisan reserve is rubbish - Coopers just dont do any of the lager styles well.

The celebration ale is great though

Swell Ales - The Victory Hotel @ Sellicks has it on tap.
Only a few bottle shops have it - McLaren Vale Pub is one, also can get it @ Sip 'n' Save Victor Harbor.

I have become a bit of a Bourbon fan these days too - used to be Scotch Whiskey but the 'sweetness' of JD & Jim Beam is becoming preferable - must be getting old

I've been drinking Dominique Portet bubbly a bit lately and last night, with a friend, a Saltram Mamre Brook 2009 Cab Sav, which was really nice.
However, with summer coming on I expect I'll be back to beer again soon.
