Monday night has been tried and it failed, Thursday night is an excellent TV time slot but I think it's "meh" when it's your team at home.
If they are programmed around school holidays I think that would be extremely beneficial for crowd numbers, adults will still go, but adults with younger school age children in the middle of winter might baulk at the idea a little.
Without kids I still thought it was awesome to attend on a Thursday. The crows seem to be pushing it quite a lot and along with Friday and Saturday nights I like that timeslot the most. Certainly more than Sunday games. Except for the work hangover the next day
I see your point regarding kids though. School holidays are a great idea
The advantage of working around school holidays is states have school holidays at different times, so could be a regular feature of the fixture. Vic/NSW have started term 3 already as we are in the first week of holidays now

Wonder whether they might have had half an eye on doing what they could to avoid one club knowing what they had to do to stay ahead of another on the ladder. With the potential of every finals advantage this year coming down to percentage, would be great to avoid the discussion about a team playing the day after having any sort of advantage.
