Not wanting to start a new thread, this seems the most appropriate thread I could find to post in.

Not a bad suggestion in the Talking Amateurs Budget this week on the front cover regarding the association medal count/s. Suggesting grades D3 and below are hosted at a club from each relevant division. Could be a good alternative to the current set up. But could be a flop if attendance is the same as is at present.

I think that's a great idea.

Yeah I like it. Club could put on meals and would get all the profits and bar. Haven't read the article but would only take one executive member and guest host and the votes for that Div could be read and people might get into it. Also a club hosting it would have the choice to make the night as big or small as they wanted.

I would certainly be keen to go

It used to happen at clubs. I can remember Salisbury hosting a couple of grades early 2000's.

Yep nothing new to see here
Not that Ive read the paper but the Thinkers in Residence are only regurgitating an old practice
Having said that, Id enjoy going to Payenham or Seaton  (Big Al would probably charge for the carpark) for the Div 3 count.

Yeah, it's definitely not a new idea. This has been bandied about for a couple of years.

It has pro's and cons:

Pros: Don't have to endure other divisions counts if it doesn't interest you.
Gives clubs the opportunity to play host and make a little $$

Cons: No chance to catch up with mates from other grades. I like the social aspect of the night, where you can just schmooze around...

Unless you're a fair chance to win anything, there wouldn't be too many from those clubs that won't get a sniff there, especially if the club hosting it is a long drive and a packed lunch away. (ie; couldn't see too many Lizbeff boys at a medal count night at Kenilworth unless you were top 4.

Given that there would only be 1 division (and reserves) shown, it might go for an hour at the most so in reality, how much extra $$ would the host club make given that these area held on a weeknight?

Do C comps have their own (or do you lump them together? What if you're at a 4 team club? Why split up (keeping in mind that only 2 div 1 clubs have D grades and a handful of div 2 clubs)

If actual sit down dinners were planned like the div 1/2, then would the host club claim ALL profits? plus you could only consider clubs that would comfortably seat 100+ people?

and how is Wristwatcher going to spread himself out to 10 different medal nights? ;)

I'd like to see it given a shot but as with most changes there would be a mountain of admin and logistics to deal with. I think it would be as good as the club hosting it wanted it to be. You might find that teams outside finals might really get around it

What about putting 2-3 divisions together for the night?

Such as:

Div 1-3
Div 4-6
Div 7-8
C1-C2
C3-C7

David Green will be joined by none other than the Blue Ribbon Bull, Daniel MacAdam from Portland, and Tommy Lipson from North Haven tonight on the Monday Night Amateur Footy Show on 100.5 Wow FM from 6-8.

This is sure to be one the best shows of 2013, with each host on for their second run.

This weeks first confirmed special guest is Gaza coach Nathan Grainger. Who goes into the penultimate round of division 1 football this week with the unique possibility of both playing finals and facing relegation. Nathan always gives plenty and should be a very interesting interview.

Also we will of course be giving an in depth analysis of all the Div 3-8 finals games.

The other guest this week will be the great man who needs no introduction Shaun "Dutchy" Holland to discuss what went right and what went wrong at Central United this year as well as his expert analysis of the lower divisions. He will also be taking care of this weeks music and has promised songs with real lyrics. :)
