Re: I need to know....
Who's peepers are on their way out?
I discovered about 7 years ago that I was struggling to see at a distance in late afternoon light and had troubles reading the animated numbers on the racing screen or the cricket scores in the corner.
I went to specsavers and got two pairs of glasses for $199, a normal pair and a pair of sunnies.
I notice that if I wear my sunnies all day I feel tired at the end of it and my eyes feel strained and I don't wear my normal much, only when I go to the pub.
My sunnies don't rest on my head very well when I'm indoors so I figure it's time to go get updated, I have noticed that I can't read signs from as far away as I used to and I'm reluctant to wave at people until I'm a lot closer nowadays, I'm concerned that if I wear them more often, my eyesight will diminish quicker, is anyone in the know in this area?

Had the goggles for reading for about 4 years now. Distance is fine although I find myself leaving them on when watching the TV but am ok without them on for that stuff, driving, watching sport live etc.Lightning McQueen wrote:Who's peepers are on their way out?

Not in the know, but similar position to you and same concern. Eyesight has continued to diminish - don't know whether that's natural, or hastened by wearing glasses which I do more and more.Lightning McQueen wrote:I'm concerned that if I wear them more often, my eyesight will diminish quicker, is anyone in the know in this area?

Every year I go back and the prescription increases each time, but is that from wearing glasses or just getting older eyes? I don't know.RB wrote:Not in the know, but similar position to you and same concern. I have friends same age who have resisted, and say they don't need them but they have the font on their phones that large its comical, and borrow mine when reading menus out at dinner.

You might be lucky enough to get away with a pair of cheap reading glasses to magnify the print, there's a few blokes at the pub that all use the same set to look at the tab screeen.Footy Chick wrote:My eyesight has always been impeccable and was very happy to boast that I was the only person in my family that wasn't blind as a bat.Lightning McQueen wrote:Who's peepers are on their way out?

Re: I need to know....
I got glasses when I was about 21, needed updated prescriptions again at 24 and 27ish, but thankfully they stabilised after that and I've been on the same pair for the last 10 or so years.

Basically all my mates and most of their wives wear glasses, I'm pretty much the last working specimen in the group and they're all gunning for me to go blind. Arseholes.
