Went here for lunch on Saturday while on a wine tour

I had Kingfish sashimi, summer orange, citrus foam, fish floss, butter crumb, celery for entree, not something I would usually order (and in fact I didnt) but a mate is cheffing there now so sent it out to try. Pretty good and something nice and light after 400 wines before lunch.
He also sent out Panko crusted smoked hock terrine, purple genoa fig, jamon, pork crackling, onion which was really good but not sure how much I could seriously eat in one go, quite smoky.

For main I had Char sui pork, garden herb, yam bean and apple salad, crispy soy beans, was sensational and would order it again and again.
My dining partner had SA 50 day grain assisted Coorong Angus beef, 250g sirloin which looked great and good a rave review.

He then sent out dessert of a chocolate mud brownie with some other stuff which was a bit rich for me as a non-dessert eater normally.

Awesome place to sit and have lunch surrounded by the gums, etc

I had 2 beers and a glass of red, dining partner had 2 glasses of white and a bottle of sparkling water.

Total $105 ( would hate to know what the total would have been if Id paid for everything)

Service - 8
Food - 9
Ambiance - 8

Windy Point restaurant (not the cafe)

The food was confusing (ie) why put that with that? (eg) Chateaubriand with creamed spinach (was shite) and 3 sauces - Bearnaise, BBQ(!!!) & Horseradish (i)
Service was very poor (I could fill half a page with what they did wrong)
Had to rugby tackle the waiter to get a drink (eg) Can I please order a glass of wine for my entree? "You just had your entree" "Yes I did, didn't I"
The waitress asked for a tip when I was paying. My eyes said it all............

2/10

Esplanade Hotel, Brighton

We rarely go out for tea as a family at the moment as the kids (ages 3 & 5) eat between 5:30 & 6:00 and I don't get home from work before 7:30 on week nights. Weekends are also pretty hectic but the weekend before last we booked a table for 5:30 in the cafe bistro.
It was 38 degrees outside & hotter inside. "Air conditioner's playing up" one of the staff said with a shrug of the shoulders. We nearly left but the kids wanted to stay so we stuck it out.
After I brushed off all the food on our seats onto the floor which already had bits of cauli, chips & tomato on it, the girls sat down & I got some drinks, lamenting my choice of establishment already.
2 x kids meals @ $9 each
Choice of about 7 or 8 dishes with a side of veg/salad/chips & a drink
They both liked their Napoletana pasta & mini sliders
I ordered the American or Italian (can't recall) pizza @ $21.90
Cardboard for a crust, barely warm (considering the conditions that was an effort in itself) scarce topping, even less cheese - WOEFUL
My wife had the seafood platter. Oysters, S & P squid, pickled octopus, barra fillet, salmon fillet, salad & chips @ $34.90
Now a platter doesn't mean a wooden board the size my cement pizza was served on. So every thing was piled on every thing else & basically just crammed together. MAJOR LET DOWN
1 x Adelaide Hills cider & 3 pints of Carlton Draught.
Bill came to roughly $100, minus 25% Entertainment voucher brings it down to $75
I spoke to the manger on duty at length when I paid the bill telling her everything I've posted here. She was extremely apologetic about the food on the chairs, the dodgy air con, she said she didn't know why my wife's meal wasn't served on a proper platter, they usually are apparently. She also refunded the money for my pizza. Credit there, she didn't have to do that but probably should've.
Food 3/10
Service 7/10
Ambience/comfort 1/10

Not to good to hear. I have dinner at the cafe below every 6 months or so and always enjoy my meal.

Went to Bentleys pub in Clare on Sunday on the way to visit the Mrs's's's's rellies.

We got a chicken schnitty with mushroom gravy each, I had a Sailor Jerrys and she got table water.

$54.

Fifty four dollars.

The salad was a combo of salad, coleslaw (yesterdays I think) and a cold noodle concoction.

Schnitty was ok, but not as good as Im used to.

Sticky floors, no ambiance.

The Sailor Jerrys was made well.

Service - 4 (Was waiting at the counter for 10 minutes coz they had the wrong template on the till. Had to stand in stickiness in my thongs.
Food - 4 (Nothing special. Crumbs were a bit gluggy, gravy was okay at best, weird salad, good drink)
Ambiance - 1 (Nothing)
Accessibility - 10 (Got a park right out the front on the main road)
Price - 0 (FIFTY-FOUR-AUSTRALIAN-DOLLARS)

3.8/10

Will find somewhere else for lunch next time.

Agatha's Cafe - Port Noarlunga

First and foremost, cudos to the owner for selecting the right staff for the venue. ;)

The Louisianna Crispy fried chicken burger, w/ crispy onions, fresh tomato, lettuce, cheese, smoked bacon, grilled pineapple, and a chipotle aioli served w/ fries - $19. Up there for a burger and fries however, it was very, very good.

Three of us had that, one had the Dela Hoya Macho Burger - A grilled chorizo and beef combo pattie, topped w/ monterrey cheese, a caramelised onion and jalepeno jam, tomato, lettuce, and a chipotle aioli ( $18 ) and one went the Big halloumi, $19.

I had a golden ale from "Swell" brewery at McLaren Vale ( $10 - 500ml ) and it was magnificent, I've had a few from the good folks at Swell and it's well, swell!

Funky little joint right opposite the Port Noarlunga, easy parking, good view inside and out.

Food - 8/10
Ambiance - 8/10
Value for money - 7/10
Service - 9/10

Overall a top little spot to stop for a feed if you;re down south for the day. Not cheap, but a good burger and chips for $18 is ok in my eyes.

My brother and sister-out-law are coming back from Mildura and have brought land in Seaford Heights. Went and checked the block out, had some lunch while we were there.
