I know they were both carrying a few wear and tear injuries. If not are they involved in any way, great blokes and are both great local veterans for the mighty Hackham Hawks.

Saturday night did not eventuate due to Fitzy having prior engagement.... They are filming this Thursday night at training.... Will be on air this coming Saturday "Before the Game" on Channel 10....

Greg and Doug are both nearing the end of their careers.... Have been fantastic for the club for a long time now! Both have retired from A grade football.... Greg is running around in the B grade and when fit is clearly a cut above the rest.... Really knows how to find the ball that bloke! Doug is assistant coach of the B grade and occasionally has a run, but both the bodies are telling them it's time to rest....

Hopefully both will be involved in the club for years to come and can enjoy some good times in the not to distant future

Cheers warrior. Doug has a great footy brain on him and it would be good to see him pass on that knowledge to some up and comers. Hope you have a good thursday night, you guys will probably have 60 on the track with all the old mugs hoping to get their face on the telly. Hope theres no trouble though from some of the boozers!! I Remember a few years back when Capper and Jacko came to the club for a night and a couple of the older boys who had a few to drink and aren't afraid to speak their minds had a bit of a go at the two, very embarassing from aclub point of view at the time   . Not saying that our old mate Fitzy is up to the Stardom (And that he's from the stinkin Cockledivers) that these boys were at, but it still will be a night where a national T.V. show will showcase the club. GO YOU HAWKS! :supz:

Rumours are flying that Shane Lynch has got the Hawk job. Can any of you Hawk boys confirm this ?

So "Hawk Supporter" --- you said on the "Southern Hawks" thread this is the place to find out info on the Hawks (and I totally agree). So are able to you tell us if Lynch is now the coach ?

Is he going to take all Hackhams players after 3 years and then have old Aldinga and Hackham people form the Woodcroft Woodpeckers? Good plan Lynch good plan :^o

Some richly deserved honours came last night, with a brand new award being one of them. How fitting was it that Graham Thompson gets recognised as "Club Volunteer Of The Year"
Well done Thommo =D> =D> =D> =D>
When the Hawks get back as a power in this League you guys ought to name the oval after him or something (or maybe a "Ted Whitten-like structure" at the entrance ?)
The second suggestion is a bit tongue-in-cheek, and the first might be a bit hard to organise, but something in his honour would be apt for the work this man has done to keep Hackham on its feet. He'd no doubt argue against this like crazy. but the man deserves any honour you can give him.

Worst comment ever; Don't know the man, but any person that takes a side from 50+ goal hammerings, incidently Hackhams current situation, to competitive should be applauded. Compare this to the commitment shown by the Kelly boys?

Not sure of Brighton's history, but all the other clubs in the current top 8 have been cellar dwellers in the last 20 years and one of the main reasons they are now sitting pretty, is due to people who put in the hard yards when their club was struggling.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Well done to Thommo on being named 'Volunteer of the Year', Greatly deserved, he puts so much time and effort into keeping this club on it's feet.

Just hope the board appoints the right coach, this time around. The position needs to go to someone with alot of experience, can attract players, and can work with the kids coming through. The club really depends on this decision being the correct one for the future of the club!! :P

Brighton sat in SAAFL div 4 and their juniors were already in the SFL so they decided to join the SFL at senior level aswell. Always been pretty strong.

Very different situation yesterday at the MCG, but at least the guernsey has some power in it !
Hopefully the SFL Hawks can use this as inspiration. I'm sure they'd have tried it before, but the jumper Hackham is wearing should have considerable drawing power now. Could really help in attracting juniors if they promote it well enough.
Much harder to attract top senior players who will look at results, but every little bit helps.

That's a fair point BTP. Be interesting to see what happens!

Hackham's already got quite a few promising kids. If they can hang on to them and avoid folding/merging in the meantime, things could look pretty good for the Hawks in the next few years.

Just hope Morphies keep away from Mosar. Maybe only one poster that's pushing the "Make Mosar an Emu" barrell but for the sake of a stronger SFL it would be extremely good if the Hawks don't lose him.
South Adelaide would be a different story of course, but all other SFL clubs should make a pact to leave impressive Hackham players out of their plans.

Good idea; It'll be interesting to hear if any clubs approach the young man.
