It's a thread about playing video games! Nothing to do with Information Technology!

IT should be for discussing how shit works, not pressing buttons on a controller.

The actual board topic is IT
then it says Computers, Gadgets, Software, Electronics, etc.
Does a nintendo not fit into these categories?

Entertainment yes, IT no.

Is there a bored moderator today with nothing better to do?

If you bothered to look through the forum you would see that games consoles and games have always been discussed in here.

I haven't bothered to look through the IT forum because IT bores me. Wii doesn't bore me but is entertaining, therefore it should be under entertainment.

But you didn't post it in the Entertainment Forum, now you're contradicting yourself so you're obviously just trying to troll.
Please discuss the subject at hand in here or don't discuss it all.
I hate to be the one to educate you but the Wii is a computer, games played on the Wii are software.
Its not rocket science.
If you have any future concerns about which topic should be in which forum feel free to PM me so you can just bore me and look a fool in front of one person instead of everyone.
Also you don't have to "look through" any forum, there is a really good search facility on this site, learn to use it, it is your friend.
Cheers.

I agree computer games are not IT, but entertainment.
How to make game machines function better just sneaks into IT.
Overall it is a marginal issue in this case.

FC - you are not alone.
I don't own any of the game machines, but do play the occasional game on my PC when I have nothing better to do and want to kill time.
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

Psyber - Would you agree a WII and its games relate to electronics and software ?
Throw in computer in that lot as well...

This is definitely in the correct part of this site.

Maybe it is rocket science.
Does rocket science belong in the IT forum?

I can't believe some people are whinging that gaming is in this board, I think it suits this board more than the Entertainment board... and this place doesn't get that many threads/posts anyway!

Shrek if you are serious you have lost the plot... or maybe you are bored so you thought you'd start a bit of trouble. 8)

Thanks Psyber, I always thought the workings of a computer or the functions of software which are more involved than pressing a couple of buttons belong here. My car runs on a computer but that doesn't make it IT.

I will shut up now.

I'd accept it as there is not a clear alternative, on this site, but it is hardly "Information Technology".
From my perspective, it is really only entertainment, so perhaps we need an "Electronic Toys" section for such kiddie stuff?? ;)

Re: Nintendo Wii Pt 2

I just discussed the issue with a certified genius at work who is an IT expert (as well as an expert in gaming, computers, consoles, etc) and he said it definately belongs in this forum only looking at the alternatives.
Seeing as a certified genius is in agreeance with the Moderators, Administrators and a majority of users on this site we're quite happy leaving as is.
Now, please place further discussion about the Wii in here, if you have issues where things are placed in the forum PM myself or a Moderator and we'd be only too happy to explain to you why something is where it is.
Any ongoing discussion that isn't about a Wii will be deleted, we might even remove the complete topic since there's one on the Wii already not too far down the page.
Cheers.
