Re: Round 5 Norwood V West Adelaide Post match
Let me get this right. Bassett has a sooky sooky la la because Collins spoke or yelled at some/all Norwood players? Get a grip, Bass! IT'S FOOTBALL!! I am sure that Collins' players were sayng naughty things to the Norwood players throughout the game, what's the difference? Bass, you're doing a pretty good job of coaching Norwood at the moment, stick to that.

In a fair fight, I'd back Bass.
With nobody to officiate, I'd back Collins.

With Bassett's record he can do what he likes. My coach could do naked handstands when coming from the oval for all I care if he could achieve what Bassett has/is.

West seem to have quite a history with under-handed behavior...

Thanks again Collo for stiring up the boys at half time and giving us the win. Stick to the headphones look of the GF.
Can this man be any more stupid and still get paid for doing it ? Four wins by playing attacking football then after 10 mins against Norwood decides it is back to clogging up the game defensively.

It must drive West fans nuts.
West certainly can play, and need to back themselves when things are going against them. sadly this is easier said than done.
When they started to play some good footy in patches 3 or 4 years ago they would easily get overrun by going back into their shell when challenged. The fact that they still do this is frankly inexcusable when the results of playing attacking footy are there for all to see.

What about Chris Gowan's sooky at the umpires after last year's semi-final just because they didn't give him an armchair ride during the game and his team lost by 14 goals.

Norwood simply executed the game style better yesterday. They are as defensive as the bloods if thats the term thats being used. They kick sideways, backwards. Westies do the same. When we execute it well it creates plenty of run and scoring opportunities. After half time, the red legs simply played better defensively against our style and choked us. The talk on our game style is so exaggerated it is not funny!

Sounds as though it's only been the last 2 matches that West have encountered an opposition placing a high value on defensive action. They'll be better in the long run for those games.
It's always an arm wrestle between these two teams so I didn't see much wrong with West's action. Although must admit that in the last quarter I was surprised they didn't roll the dice more.

I agree, despite momentum being with Norwood at 3/4 time (as North had last week) thought we would have gone for it in the last & quarter, especially with the first goal being vital to both teams, and had our best forwards in attack and take the game on by running to break the lines (As we did in first 3 rounds). I was disappointed to see our forward line to be Kirk, Poynton, Rankine & Keough, who between them wouldn't have 10 games league experience. Where was Webb (in the ruck)? Where was Silverlock, our only forward who looked dangerous (on the bench)? Where was Beech, our leading goal kicker (on the wing)? Puzzling?

Re: Round 5 Norwood V West Adelaide Post match
Thought we lacked run in the last quarter - Laird and Schmidt have to play for us to be dangerous. These two are in the top 6 of the comp for getting the ball from contested disputes and Norwood clearly won these in the 2nd half thus their outside play looked much better when we had to rely on others to do that role that were not as good as norwoods in-and-under players.
Could this replace the Port Norwood rivalry if the magpies drop into the reserves only in 2014 as Powers reserves side... ?
The SANFL could really market this if they don't go down the AFL road and panic because there was a little emotion between camps at half time. It is great to see two passionate clubs with equally passionate officials that care about winning.

Mark, I know you want to get a better slice of the potential gate takings for the Blood&Tars, but we (Norwood) regularly get that sort of gate when we play Centrals and slightly less to the Bays.
I have been to matches with the Blood & Tars that barely 3000 have seen the game and to be fair 2 of every 3 were Norwood supporters.
For sheer hard at it all day and an attractive game style with absolutely no holds barred, the two sides who cant stand the other winning, you can't go past a Norwood/Centrals game for entertainment on Anzac day. Having said that I still think the previous years Grand Finalists should continue to play this game, and in the future it will probably continue on at the Premiers home ground.
