As much as I hate taking the bait Norwood's round one side will have had far more blokes who played footy for PNU before going to Norwood than vice-versa.

Respectfully no.Lightning McQueen wrote:Yes.
Don’t get me wrong there’s half a dozen players at least in every Div 1 side capable of playing SANFL league footy just like there is in every SANFL Ressies team the difference is the depth or who’s on the bench.
The bottom 4-6 players in each Div 1 team would struggle to play SANFL Ressies.
There’s also a reason why players choose to play “Ammos”: the demands of SANFL league footy don’t suit their lifestyle, their desire to commit to the training for the pitiful $$$$, or they were found wanting at a SANFL club preseason previously.
As I said, bloody good standard of footy Div I to Div III, certainly comparable to any community league across the country (esp Div I) but not at SANFL Ressies standard IMO.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Re: 2021 Adel Footy League - Division 1
When was the last game of Div 1 and sanfl ressies you watched?
The ressies standard has dropped off big time in just the last 2-3 years IMO
Div 1 is very strong and has improved in the last 2-3 years to be back where it was 10+ years ago.
The gap would be minimal and having watched a lot of Div1 ammos last year I think the standard would be better.
As for who would win I’m not sure.........

I have no real concrete evidence, I just judged on the names of the players I see playing ressies that wouldn't be walk-up starters in some div 1 teams.amber_fluid wrote:When was the last game of Div 1 and sanfl ressies you watched?

Not decisive as to who would win, but PNU not infrequently has blokes called up straight from 1R into SANFL reserves and SANFL reserves blokes straight into 1R (and PNU's 1R side has not been great of late)

Didn’t the Eagles ressies smash PAOC by close to 100 points in a trial this pre season?amber_fluid wrote:When was the last game of Div 1 and sanfl ressies you watched?

I'd also think that preseason is the time when the SANFL Ressies sides have the biggest advantage over ammos in terms of doing a proper preseason, taking things seriously, etc.
Compare them in early August when the ressies side have lost players upto the league team to cover injuries and the ammos are lining their guys up for a run into finals and you'll probably get a closer result.

Just a question or subject to talk about.Jimmy_041 wrote:It would make more sense to have promotion / relegation for D1R & D5
I had a thought about it only because of the talent which goes up and down from d1 to sanfl
Didn’t think about the ressies.
Worth a chat though

There were some very smart clubs about 10 years ago that saw SHOC won consecutive D1R premierships.OnBaller wrote:Just a question or subject to talk about.Jimmy_041 wrote:It would make more sense to have promotion / relegation for D1R & D5

They targeted those players, who would have made the A Grade in most other clubs, which absolutely gutted SHOCs depth
I may be wrong but I think that's why the only 3 players from the 1 club came in

Re: 2021 Adel Footy League - Division 1
I know the original quote was in regards to the D1 v SANFL R comment, but isnt this a good example of why that would be a bad idea (promotion/relegation for D1R to D5)? Pretty high turnover of players in reserve competitions.Jimmy_041 wrote:There were some very smart clubs about 10 years ago that saw SHOC won consecutive D1R premierships.OnBaller wrote:Just a question or subject to talk about.Jimmy_041 wrote:It would make more sense to have promotion / relegation for D1R & D5

Re: 2021 Adel Footy League - Division 1
Could always do away with the reserves divisions, increase the A grade divisions and just have promotion/relegation across all divisions - B grade sides end up where they may

Noooo, wasn't that when Para Hills died that year and Pooraka and Ingle Farm tried to recruit about 10 players each from thenm?Jimmy_041 wrote:OnBaller wrote:Just a question or subject to talk about.Jimmy_041 wrote:It would make more sense to have promotion / relegation for D1R & D5

Re: 2021 Adel Footy League - Division 1
Didn’t it come about from when a group of players were club hopping each year (Gepps Cross, Ovingham, Wingfield) winning flags then leaving the club in tatters the following year?
