Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
I was told earlier in the year that Jesse Aish had accepted a role as assistant reserves coach at Norwood and would only play for Echunga on weeks that Norwood played Friday night or Sunday matches. I see Norwood reserves played Saturday afternoon yet Aish still suited up for the Dee's! Has the offer at Echunga become to attractive for him to give the commitment to Norwood?

Leave at half time of the 2's and he could still play footy in the arvo.....

Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
You're obviously not a racing enthusiast Windbag, pretty sure my selections are still running.
I couldn't be more proud of the way the junior committee, coaches and volunteers at Tigerland roll up their sleeves and get stuck in, a lot of passion there. Winning is a healthy attitude, I hope we can knock off the Maggies this weekend and I'll certainly be cheering the boys on, but based on previous seasons it's a very uneven competition and I don't imagine Hahndorf or Blackwood weakening.
I wonder what the record scores are in Junior & Senior Colts?

Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
Interesting that if you take away A grade the closest game on the weekend was 17 points in mini colts. And the second closest game after that was 32 points in a junior colts game. The smallest losing margin in b grade was 57 points. Lot of one sided games on the weekend hopefully we don't see those stats continue, I don't think we will....

Cant play for a league club and for a hills club in the same weekend. Its in the constitution.

Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
Legsman how many locals do you have playing at Echunga ( who played junior football and did not come from other Hills clubs). You are keen to pot shot everybody else. Answer should be interesting.

8 that player juniors (Aish, guy, Edmonds x 2, girke, ward, Liston, miller)
4 that came from far away (Edwards x2, Jennings, harland)
1 didn't play juniors (Cranna)
5 players from other hills clubs (maslin, fleet, carter, Grantham, Koop)
In my eyes all of the above are considered locals
2 ex sanfl players with ties to the club (Carey and Lindsay)
1 debatable (Mckenzie)
That's the list from Saturday. Fairly local team I would say.
Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
I can't speak for other team but I would assume that a lot of clubs are similar. A handful of traditional locals (played juniors there), a handful of handy players from around the traps (other country clubs and leagues) and a couple of recruited guns. The difference normally is in the recruited guns, some clubs can pick them and some cant.

Koop Also played his Juniors at Echunga so would push him into the "Locals" category,
and I would Say Both Edwards (given Jessie played a few seasons at Onkas) Cranna, Fleet would be considered locals... given all their senior footy being played at Echunga, and been there for some years now.

Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
No contest re Aish he is a gun local, however if I was Norwood I'd be looking for a bit more commitment to the assistant coaches job, leaving at 1/2 time is hardly a commitment to the Norwood reserves team, more a commitment to Echunga

Stupid comment / question which is what I would expect from an ill informed forum member simply trying to cause angst by stooping to new levels with respect to a great bloke, player and ambassador for our game.

9 junior locals - just from Saturdays A grade - plus others who are now locals but didn't play juniors.
You are clutching at straws now as we all know this stacks up pretty well against the other clubs.

Yes Meadows are looking strong this year and do a good job of retaining their locals.

I would agree that Meadows are good at retaining locals. trouble is that it's not the early 2000's any more and to be competitive you need some quality imports. Meadows have had a history of strong juniors so I can't see those local numbers dropping but a couple of top class players are needed to replace some of the older boys. Trouble is any up and coming juniors that can do that often get lured down town.

I hope the Meadows boys have a good year this year - some good blokes at the club - and they developed the great player Brady Dawe for Norwood!
They were actually a team that could have pushed into Div 1 approx ten years ago.
Another Div 1 club over on the southern hills side would be great for the comp overall.
Perhaps a merger with Kangas or Maccy could bring this to fruition?
Probably better to talk about this on the Div 2 thread though...

That Interesting! I hear Loffler from Uri is also an assistant coach with the Norwood reserves and he didn't play for Uri on Saturday against Mt Barker according to sporting pulse. Loffler must be more committed!!!
