Re: Cycling: fitness, racing or leisure rides..
Quiet week over the holiday period but was still doing over 130 km a week riding to work and a few hill rides.
Will start ramping up the training next week with some rides up Belair road and Old Belair road as I get ready for TDU and RLC.
Actually I reckon this is the worst time of the year to ride in Adelaide as all the once a year plonkas get out with no road sense or respect and p!ss off all the drivers. Come Australia day weekend they are all gone for another year. The cycle paths/lanes are left to us year round commuters.
Saw Fabian Cancellara out to day with his 2010 Swiss Saxo-Bank Bibs and jersey, mind you he's put on about 60 kilos....

Re: Cycling: fitness, racing or leisure rides..
Have been a bit MIA on the bike lately with this time of year causing havoc with any free time I had..
Moved back to the main works depot this morning, so the commute has gone back to about 7km from the 500m. So out comes the bike, bugger all traffic and was feeling good. Then bang, halfway to work the back wheel punctures... no spare tube and a nice morning ride turns to shit!
Unsure about TDU, at this stage.. will see how many kms I can get into the legs between now and Jan 6.

Faarking New Year's Resolutions ... the bike is out after collecting dust for a while.
Brilliant idea to get started again during a heatwave.

Just get out after the sun goes down and the heat level drops a little.

Went for a short ride with my son. His first ride along the river without training wheels
Did a fine job!

well back from 5 big days of drinking and holidays and getting back into it.. not great coming back to a heatwave.. but still busted out 80km today in it... was very tough on the heart and legs.. damn riding fitness goes so quick... temp and heart rate started to cool down on the way home which was good...
on another not anyone looking at buying a carbon frame want to buy mine... if you chuck your running gear and bars on it you have a sweet fast bike.. its 2011 specialized tarmac comp sl2.. white with blue stripes.. good fast stiff carbon frame... never crashed always cleaned and maintained after every race/ride, serviced regularly.. only reason looking to sell it is wanting to buy this baby... have also attached pic of my bike so you can see frame...

Re: Cycling: fitness, racing or leisure rides..
Finally got out for the first time in 9 days after our holiday.
God I struggled, legs very heavy. Headed from Flaggy out to Cherry Gardens, Ironbank and then up Sturt Valley Rd to Stirling, then Crafers. Looks up at Mt Lofty and despite feeling terrible decided to give it a go, eventually made it to the summit for the first time, was very pleased.
Descent down the old freeway was fun, then back to Flaggy, about 60kms all up and a good blow out. Need to ramp it up next week and then taper off for the TDU.

Simon Gerrands will get to wear the jersey of Australian road race Champion for the 2012 season. Gerrans adds the senior title to the U/23 title he has previously held.
This means that Green Edge will have the national champion riding for them at all the grand tours

Re: Cycling: fitness, racing or leisure rides..
Went home, parkside to Hallett Cove via Mt Lofty last night. 48 km in 2.5 hours. Heavy legs after footy training the night before (acceleration and deacceleration reps) so the last hour I felt like I had two calcified hamstring tendons attached to my Ischial Tuberosities... The headwinds going up South rd and the Southern Expressway Veloway didn't help either.

Which way did you go? You doing the TDU am?
My bloody bike front derailuer is playing up and wont put the chain on the big ring, last day of holidays yesterday and had to do some work so headed for the hills on the small ring only. Went up Chandlers, up Clarendon Rd twice and up Main Rd. Good work out of around 45kms. Getting the bike fixed tomorrow so hopefully be right for a couple of big rides on the weekend in final prep for the TDU, might even head for Willunga Hill.

Up Greenhill to Mt Lofty, through to Crafers, Down past EOTH, Cross rd, winston Ave, South rd, Veloway to home.
Doing RLC and TDU. Too easy riding back to Gawler after TDU to get picked up by the missus.
Planning on going home tonight via Belair rd as my last major hill climb before RLC.

Re: Cycling: fitness, racing or leisure rides..
Havent done Greenhill Rd, have heard it can be a bit hairy.
I decided not to do the RLC, would have if there was a 75km ride but its 50 or 100. Dont want to risk getting injured before my main goal which is the TDU.
I just looked at my records and I started the mission to do the 2012 TDU on 16/1/11 with a 10.81km ride averaging 16.91kmph!

So many bad drivers out there.

Can't even go full length of tram!!
Might stick with Anzac

Looking to get back into riding and need some wheels. Pig is yours still available? No big rush but if still on the table I might be interested.
