I was lucky enough to play a season of senior cricket with my son. Won the flag which was just a bonus really. But bloody lifetime memories of sharing that with my bloke really is as good as it gets.
1961, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015.... And don't you forget it!
What are you doing still playing against U/14's. They allow one overage player these days
Good work though playing with your kids. Did you give them any strike or did you hog it?
I hogged the quicker bowler, they brought the opener back on when my son came out, he ended up getting caught at 3rd man off of him.
My daughter is generally a bit sketchy with her running early in her innings, when she came out I said "let's be very loud and early with our calls, nothing silly"
Her first ball she flicked it backward of square, I've called yes only to see a fielder emerge from behind the ump, a quick yell of "no" and she was back home............just, if looks could kill though.

I don't think I'll get that chance, given the fact that I'm 34 (almost), and I have no kids. I think I'll be long retired by the time I have a kid old enough to play senior cricket.
However, My 7 year old nephew is showing a lot of interest in cricket. Maybe I ought to wait until he's old enough to fill in?

My daughter representing SA next week in the national Under 15 cricket carnival, it's held in Adelaide this year so that's a huge bonus, Thursday's game is at Adelaide Oval number 2 which I can't wait watch.
Great to see some awesome ovals being used to showcase SA, hopefully we do well, can see us finishing mid-table though, pound for pound we are the 3rd best team but anything can happen.

Both, I think she's penciled in for 5 or 6 and bowls decent offies where she'll be the 4th or 5th bowler used, they may open her in the T20's though.
She's been opening the batting at A Grade district level so far this season so it will be a huge relief coming in down the order, she played in a City vs Country Under 18 match in December where she batted at 6 and top scored, I'm hoping the pressure she has had on her all season will pay off now.

Wow, good stuff LM. We had a young girl go through our Country Cricket club a few years back who progressed down a fairly similar path. Playing A grade at an early age, state under 15's, and I think state under 18's while still eligible at U 15 level. I have lost a bit of contact now so I don't know how far she has gotten but bowled left arm ortho's. Being a country club, she played her under age stuff locally with us, in the mornings, before heading down the hill in the arvo's to play in the ladies comp. She was even captain of our under 16 boys team for a season or 2.... which made for some interesting interactions between the "young blokes" and her.... the respect our lads showed her was unbelievable. They saw her as a cricketer first (and a damn good one) and a girl second..

That's awesome, you'll have to pm me her name as she is probably still around the traps.
I coached Amanda Wellington as a kid playing boys cricket a couple of years above her own age to be in her brother's side, it's been great for my daughter to follow similar footsteps and play alongside her too.
My daughter captained a boys side a few years ago and the kids TV show "Totally Wild" did a segment on her, it was an absolute buzz.

Best of luck to her, mate!
