Geez a bit early to call that.

Anyone else truly in it in your view?

Looking forward to the umpiring department coming out and telling us the Betts non-holding the ball call in the third quarter was the right decision this afternoon.

In 2 hours yesterday afternoon the umpires completely re-wrote the holding the ball interpretation. Is this what we can expect for the rest of the year now?

In the last five seasons, the premier has come from outside the top two in four of the five seasons. Only West Coast last year was able to convert it.

The last minor premier to become premier was Hawthorn in 2013.

Over a season, form, injuries, bad decisions, good decisions and some pure ass will all play a significant part.

Long way to go, I’d think West Coast may well recover and there’s some chance another club or two could emerge

West Coast look like the Lycett and Le Cras loss is really hurting them.
Nah mate just hard to play well when ya still a bit pissed.

Put Richmond in there as well. Still a good side and had an average day against the dogs. Will be tough to beat at the MCG.

Agreed, I think they'll be around the mark but will need to really fire at the business end of the season.

The only excuse for that one is if the ump was on the wrong side and thought eddie kicked it in one action rather than dropping it then picking it up and kicking it. Was a howler wasn't it...even Murphys free after for too high could have been play on

At the moment, no, but there is a bloody long way to go.

There was one with Walker, on the members side, last quarter, the umpire called it but no before Walker had brushed one aside, been tackled, spun round 360 and missed the kick, only then did the umpire call it.

Ironically that decision was just on the replay, from the time Walker picked up the ball to the umpire blowing his whistle was 4 seconds ( I went back and timed it). That’s pretty reasonable

I thought it hit Betts foot too until I just saw another angle

Could that also be due to the last round bye implemented in recent times.

Even if it did hit his foot it could hardly be construed as a kick and should have been HTB.

Even glances his foot it’s considered a kick

Well, it shouldn't be. ( See Hoskin-Elliott handball late in Anzac Day game ).

I think the AFL needs to add another 5 field umpires ;)
I apologise.
