J. Latchford (PAOC)
Best bowling average in the comp (min 10 wickets) and can't get a look in.
Good side!

Had a very good season but had to balance the team out. Already 2 spinners in there and didn't quite make enough runs to warrant top 6.
Was out of him and Blackmore for that middle order position

What? No criticising without posting your own team?
Wasn't really complaining. I agree Latchford probably misses.
Just using it as an example of why its a good side on paper.
If I were to post a side, I recon it would be almost the same.
I'd look for another strike bowler, as with the exception of Clayfield (averaging 12), the majority of the bowlers are in the 16-20 range. Grey has the best average in the comp (8.67), but that's from just 9 wickets, having bowled fewer than 30 overs in his 7 games, so couldn't really bring him in.
I'd consider Knowles in for Wordsworth (averages 46 vs 41, and brings another option with the ball, not that the team needs more allrounders), however Knowles hasn't made runs against any of the top sides. Wordsworth hit 114 against Ingle Farm and 50-odd against Pooraka.
Probably the only change I'd look at would be to shuffle the batting order in the bottom 5. Harvey averaging in single figures needs to slide down. No way he's at 7. Sandercock can go to 7, even if his 100* came at 10 from memory.

I considered Knowles but C. Wordsworth has been outstanding in the big games, like you said, those two scores plus he made 80 odd against Walkerville last week in a must win clash.
I did name 12 as that's what the rep side normally consist of. Harvey is listed at 8 and Hillier is the bowler that doesn't bat. I personally didn't want Harvey in the side, bowls a ton of overs so is always bound to get wickets. But unfair at the same time to leave out the leading wicket taker.

I took the easy option and named 12, I even used the same excuse.
I think it's only fair given the better players are all-rounders, you've gotta chuck in at least one spinner and a keeper, there's times when there's 3 openers and you can't exclude one but you can't keep out a middle-order batter either who ends up being a 6 of 7.

Re: ATCA
Big weekend for grade 1 and 2.
home finals and promotion are the biggest talking points.
who would PAOC rather see next week?
Pooraka in a similar boat after Para Hills got on top very well last time they played.
who is going down.. hope valley or grange?
A2 top spot up for grabs
both Marion and TOS have teams who are practically the same on points in 7th and 8th.
Pooraka and Hectorville playing their last A2 game for the year and will be seeing A3 next year... given Pooraka are a B Grade side i think they have done well over the last 2 seasons to stay up and compete.

Surely not many clubs have done what they have. A3 to A1 in 2 years is outstanding

Pulteney and Pembroke have done it recently, just the other way around.

Re: ATCA
Brighton also went A1 to A3 in two years. Payneham are a chance to follow suit next year unless they improve.
